Recently, I've been playing a lot of male characters. The ones I have most fun with are my lovable rogues. What I love most about roleplaying these characters is coming up with the witty banter, cause in real life I'm plain terrible at it. Being able to think on my toes is another thing I would love to be able to do, but I tend to freeze up when I'm put on the spot [which is why I suck at table top roleplays lol]. I guess because these characters can do what I would LOVE to be able to, I enjoy playing as them. Also! I tend to rp as anything other than human if the option is available. I dunno why, I just love odd skin colors. Purple, black, blue, aqua. Having horns? Heck yes. A tail? Why not? We seem to always favor one thing over another, don't we? Like, what gender do you usually play? Do you lean toward certain personalities or character archetypes? Why do you think that is?

I usually try to broaden my character types, because variety is the spice of life, but I do have a few things that I absolutely love (and reuse). I prefer playing altruistic male characters, ones who possess generally good intentions. This has happened a variety of ways. I love the knight in shining armor trope for my younger males. But I've played old, pious humanitarians or old wise men kinda deal. On the flip side, I love a good overly-critical father (consistently disappointed, etc.) or a loser scumbag of some variety (gambler, serial monogamist with horrible track record, etc.), you know? As for females I can be a little more picky. I've played swindlers/liars, meek/mild, excitable/anxious, greedy/prideful, etc. All this said, I would like to note that I've been wanting to diversify the appearance of my characters, but that can be difficult with Anime FCs. That doesn't mean I'm not gonna try tho!!! This post/reflection is a mess much like my imagination lmao. Basically I try not to subscribe to a "type" but I definitely have a few character skeletons with basic personality traits that I've loved and maintained over the years. *SHRUG*

Try being the key word, right? Haha, I'm the same when it comes to trying, but I always seem to go back to what I love more often. Oh man, those egocentric boys. Gotta love 'em. <3 I think I've only played the knight in shinning armor once. I gotta say, it was fun. Of course the other players really helped make the experience a memorable one. You know, I've never played a father before. Maybe that's something I should try out.
How diverse are we talking here? With the appearance of characters I mean.
lol my reply is just as scattered... No scratch that. It's worse. XD

I.really don't have a particular genre as I did play quite a diverse array of characters. But there's always this promiscuous, witty bitch in my pool of characters who I tried to bury but she just doesn't want to give up. Other than that, I can play anything as long as they female, I tried playin a male once, it was awks.

mayne she is xD and she just refused to be ended so I'm just conforming to her muse xD. At the moment I play a sweet girl, a violent woman, a woman of justice and her. So ye. Diversity. XD

I really don't have a gender preference, but I've been told my characters are always rebels or stoic, so I live with it. I have some characters I hide away, don't use them as often as I like. Perhaps I shouldn't hide them and let them free.

I've really tried to diversify as of late, but I still find myself going back to the tough-looking but soft-hearted man who is very protective, and has a dark side. My women, on the other hand, tend to be ditzy and blonde.

I always play human males (or supernatural male beings who were once human, usually angels or spirits or that sort of thing) who are canons from series, nowadays. They're idiots, nerds, jerks, stuck-up bastards, or any combination of the above. (examples from the main site I play: jack frost from RotG, hiccup from HTTYD, chrom from FE:A, sousuke from free!, ginoza from psycho-pass, levi from attack on titan, they all seem pretty similar in my own opinion. they're all tough guys but they have a conflicted, dark, but softer side, too.)

That's quite the long list. I rarely play canon cause I'm always afraid of not getting them right. What do you do to try to get in character? What would you reccomend anyone thatreally wants to give it a try?

my guys have a tendency to be more on the dorky side. my girls are usually a little stronger. most of my characters end up idealists so a lot of them are... naive, I guess? though now and again I'll make a real asshole and just have fun with it. I like tossing my guys into hopeless romances but the girls tend to handle their own.
