Are you guys interested in a mass crossover/pan-fandom rp? Are you already in one? I know there are already several popular ones floating around but I was thinking of something more action/adventure-oriented. I have an idea for the plot but I only came up with it recently and would like to go over it before believing that it's not another one of my random whims.
The setting, though, I'm pretty sure. Most crossover sites I've seen are usually set in a certain location, a town or city, but in this one, the characters would live in one castle and their quarters would serve as their house. They would have different occupations in the castle such as chefs, barkeepers, vendors, soldiers, gamblers, etc, and if this is sounding familiar to you and a certain game that starts with an S comes to your mind then yep, drawing inspiration from that.
The setting will have a medieval feel on it. I don't really want to make magic native as it's too common of a plot device and I'm a fan of sci-fi without things becoming extremely technological. I've always wanted to challenge myself to mix fantasy and sci-fi in (without making it steampunk) so we'll see.
I don't really want to add yet another crossover site or be a replica of the pattern. I want to know what those who'd yet to join one but had been meaning to would like to see, and what those who have would like to see be added for a different flavor. I'm much open to plots in particular. Most crossover sites have a sandbox setting with characters just mysteriously popping in and all that. What do you guys think about this? Do you have other sorts of good plots you've seen be used or want to see?
PS. Accidentally liked this post when I was trying to hit edit >___> how do I un-like well that was easy.

All i could think of was Epic Mickey Power of Illusion and Disney Friends since they were set in a castle with magic rooms that held different Disney Characters lol. Anyway I love this idea of making pan-fandom sites a little more action oriented. The setting, it sounds really cool, I would just suggest the castle has a bit of spacial magic in it so like different doors lead to huge areas to accommodate a large number of people living inside it, maybe a "bigger on the inside smaller on the outside" thing to it. doctor who buff surfacing That's sort of all the suggestions i got and can think up of, sorry if its not much tanz |3;

That crossed my mind xD but I might not opt for it depending on what I decide with the magic thing. I didn't think of Disney but that actually makes sense lol. Didn't realize there would be a similarity like that.
I've also been playing Fire Emblem so I have some mechanics in mind related to character relationship. Would be more of some OOC stuff for fun where people post in a pinned thread every time they gain friendship points with another character. Enemies still count as friendship!
And nah that's fine. Was worth hearing that someone would be interested. I wanted to hear what people thought of anyway so I know what kind of stuffs I'll be making to make them happy.

i want a strong story/plot. since everyone's going to be congregating from different series, it would be interesting to have things follow a stricter plot as opposed to being completely sandboxed.
and if it's going to be medieval + sci-fi, i hope it trends more towards sci-fi. never really touched suikoden and fire emblem so i can't say anything on that.
i have joined a couple panfandom sites and i wasn't ... really captured by the way things were. i need a more solid story to go on, since i don't really plot with other people. (an easy app format would be nice as well, but for a panfandom rp the general consensus is that you need to display a good grasp of the canon, so i digress.)

I was discussing the possibility of adding in Suikoden on Tellius with another member but we haven't yet decided if it will be worth it or not yet since we're the only two who have played it. I did immediately think Suikoden before you even said you drew inspiration from it. Haha! I actually like the idea of them all living in one community like Suikoden 3, like a small... village thing with maybe a large castle in the center where various people would move in, I suppose.
I think the usual people popping in device is used to explain away why a character from one setting is suddenly in another so people can preserve the canon character and their backstory. But to be honest, when adding in SMT on Tellius, I decided that all the canon characters would already be there and that they had no memory of past lives they had experienced in alternate worlds. In this world, they are essentially AU versions of themselves. So same sorta feeling and personality but more of a "what if this character went in this direction instead" sort of vibe. I felt it was an important way to blend the canons with originals and to avoid the dreadfully boring meet and greet threads. So maybe you could do something like that? The current self is not from their original setting, so to speak? But they live a sort of parallel life to that "other" self?

Zozma's idea made me think of Final Fantasy Dissidia where various FF characters ended up in a different universe with little to no memory of their actual lives and it did make for a few interesting moments when heroes were on the same side of villians and vice versa. I know people tend to take characters from the end point of their series or role in them, so taking them from the very beginning might add a bit of a spin on it, if people are on board with that, since it'd be one giant au thing for multiple fandoms. again if people were fine with that. and an actual plot can help move things up, like some magic force ripped these characters from their worlds for some diabolical plot.

I think it could be a really interesting spin on the panfandom/crossover idea.

Could it be optional for characters to lose memories? If they do, it would add more interest for one character to remember everything and another, not so much. Also Never heard or/and played anything listed above XD.
Could there be some sort of advanced device that are pulling these characters to this world and trapping them? Like some sort of Dr.Who, original, or secret device? Maybe the creator lost control, or is still in actual control {and pulls strings to twist fates? lil' Events/plot}? Could the faceclaims be Animanga/original drawings/Cartoon charries face claims?
If the plot was really strict, it would be awesome, strict plots are fun to maneuver around and having meaning behind everything.

Play Suikoden, Ginger
Coincidentally, the plot I was thinking of involves "losing" memories. It's not a complete amnesia or any of some sort. I think it sounds a bit like the one Kodiak described Dissidia. Characters essentially remain who they are but lacks knowledge of the specific details of their past. They would exhibit behaviors and habits without knowing why and how they developed them though they feel they should know. In the world they're pulled in, they'll be able to reclaim their important memories by searching for the three objects significant to them. This isn't a long-term objective as it's not that hard of a task to do so in a few months of active RPing but it does open possibilities for character development, coping with their strange present and rediscovered past along with relationships that might be affected.
All characters are likely to lose their memories since it's the premise. How much they forget could vary though. Those with strong, intense memories are likely to lose more of them but also have better chances of remembering them. Haven't thought out yet how they get to the dimension but once I do, it's likely going to be discovered through an event. And since it's going to be a crossover site, that depends on the fandom for FCs...or if you were asking what type of art the app would ask for...well - it sounds lame of me to say this but I do prefer animanga and am considering keeping it to the animated fandoms only. As I am imagining anime characters and JRPG here, I can't help it! I'll be giving it more thought though so don't think it's final just yet.

That would be alright,if there are any anime versions of cartoon charries would it be alright? For an example like Bleedman's artwork/webcomics. But I guess you would want it be straight up only animated animes, that would help with confusion between the mangas and the animes.

Late but yeah. If they have an animated version of it, it would be fine.
What do you guys think of AU backgrounds? I did think of it before but never really saw sites implement it. Characters will have their backgrounds fit the setting but they'll essentially have the same story and character. Not much because of how convenient it is, but how fun it is to fit worlds in one, and you could even have your char belong in the same country or something if their story could fit. So like an AU crossover?

I think that the AU idea is cool. It's fun to be able to rewrite a character, and it'll make integrating all characters much easier. I'd heavily consider joining if it were made. (I've been in a panfandom mood lately, haha)
So, do you have any specific ideas for the plot yet?

Jin, do you purposely post with very few words to make them more valuable Because it's working. I think that the AU idea is cool. It's fun to be able to rewrite a character, and it'll make integrating all characters much easier. I'd heavily consider joining if it were made. (I've been in a panfandom mood lately, haha) So, do you have any specific ideas for the plot yet? well, since you said idea with an sI'm sticking to the whole castle thing where everyone, for their own purposes, joins a neutral, private army. It's an army starting from scratch, recruiting every person who might be interested for the things they benefit from it. For instance, many merchants and professionals would have a free rent, food, and accommodations given that they provide their services. Naturally, fighters would be able to use their skills for the same reason. Or maybe they'll just be dedicated to the objective. Even though the castle is for the army, citizens can live in it freely too. This is inspired a lot by Suikoden and, if you look close enough, Fire Emblem. I'm not putting that as its tag though as the plot is still no way related to either two. I haven't come up with a concrete plot but it's definitely going to be war-related, set in a fictional continent. There would be some world-building involved to integrate countries a character may belong to (especially for royalty chars who, like from their canon universe, would keep the same role in some way) but in a smaller scale. I'm really into wars. For me, they're excellent plot since it's not some sort of magical enemy or something. It's a world of grey and in-between. edit: this is if I'm going with AU canons. If not, it would be the first idea with the memories...plus war, I think.

I can just see everyone grasping for all the powerful characters in different series just to strengthen their armies, which could be a bit of a hazard, just fair warning since people might get a bit too excited in fighting lol. So far it sounds really cool Tanz, though maybe expand the housing a bit? Like maybe a small town around the castle or something? Just to give people more room and all that kind of stuff. Just some ideas I'm tossing out there you can use and what not. I'm a bit sketchy on the au background things cause I don't think certain characters would be that easy to integrate, especially if they come from series set in the future or other places that would conflict with universe laws, that's just one guy's opinion though and if ya go with the au thing Tanz I'll follow along with it.
