TONY EIGHTEEN JANUARY FIRST MALE | 5'03" 1/2 BISEXUAL HOMOROMANTIC SPANISH REBELLION (GRUDGINLY) | |
ANTONELLO MARÍA BENITEZ DE BOSQUE |
★ PERSONALITY
THE LIKES american pop music, large crowds, ridiculously spicy foods, fast food, sex, baggy sweatshirts and shirts, piercings, being away from home, bickering with people, festivals/carnivals/fairs, candy (whether it be hard candy or gummy candy), the beach, swimming, when leaves change colors during the fall, being called by anything but tony (he'll forgive tonio only if he likes you)
THE DISLIKES cars, hospitals, medication, having to speak english, going to school, things that making beeping noises, his parents, his older brother (or so he tells himself), soccer, careless people, people who resort to violence, sports in general, tourists/foreigners, goody-two-shoes, people who think they're better than him on the terms that they aren't as "vulgar" as he is, religion in general, summertime
THE HABITS rolling his eyes, biting his nails, ditching school, muttering under his breath, tugging at his hair (this is usually only when he's particularly nervous), yelling when he really doesn't need to yell, curses more commonly in english than in spanish
THE FEARS dying, clowns, mimes, heights (like, a really bad fear; he can barely be even ten feet above ground without starting to get antsy), needles (shocking, right? just don't say so to his face)
NEVER LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH Tony doesn't care how it looks; if an opportunity presents itself then he will take it. If he has to leave someone behind to take that opportunity he will without a second thought (unless he's made you a promise or said that he'll help you). He's never been much of a dawdler nor does he have much of a moral compass to keep him from taking an opportunity that falls in the "evil" spectrum of the world. He firmly believes that the end justifies the means especially when it comes to the "greater good" or his own personal beliefs.
THE MOUTH OF A SAILOR His brother once told him that words were simply that: words. As long as someone didn't use them to hurt anyone then you could talk however you wanted and say whatever you wanted. Tony took the first part of this to heart and, as a result, has a mouth that one might consider to be even worse than that of a sailor's, especially when he loses his temper. He doesn't follow the second part of his brother's teachings in the slightest. He has no filter and will say anything that comes to mind even if it ends up being hurtful to the person he's speaking to. If he thinks you're an idiot he will inform you of that, probably with a lot of profanity that, depending on the situation, usually only makes what he said worse. It's a bit easier to swallow being called an "idiot" than being called a "fucking idiot" after all. Despite his dislike of speaking in English, he has taken to cursing in the language because he likes seeing people confused about what he's calling them even though they know that he's insulting them. If he gets really angry, though, he'll start full on screaming in rapid-fire Spanish.
IF YA CANT BEAT 'EM, JOIN 'EM Tony can adapt to situations that would most definitely cause others trouble. He's always been able to ever since he was young. He can change himself to help better himself if that makes any lick of sense. Much like how he's opportunistic, if he has to change to survive or to get something that he wants then he will without missing a beat. Of course this willingness to simply change when a problem arises has resulted in him being a bit dodgy about certain situations, not to mention lazy. If an opportunity presents itself and its easier to change to take it then, chances are, Tony will.
A SHORT MADNESS Tony is an angry little thing. He spends most of his time angry with an almost permanent scowl on his face and a look in his eyes that pretty much dares someone to screw with him. When he isn't angry (which is getting to be less and less these days) he has the temper of a rhinoceros. One wrong move and his metaphorical top will be blown. The things that set him off have a wide range and are usually inconsistent. One day it might be someone chattering non-stop while another day it might be a person who doesn't talk. There are a few triggers which are set in stone and those usually consist of people always resorting to violence (even when it isn't needed) or people who don't take life-threatening situations and/or death seriously. And when Tony goes off he gets loud. He will yell profanities at you until you either leave or physically shut him up. Where he is doesn't matter either, although he does try to watch his language around children even if this usually fails spectacularly. Also, he often flails his arms when he gets angry. Its often an unconscious reflex, and he'll only get angrier if you point it out.
A WEAK IMITATION OF STRENGTH He is not a considerate person. At all. He does not care if he causes you an inconvenience or bothers those around you. He doesn't have the desire or the time to walk on eggshells around people, which inconveniences himself, so that he doesn't accidentally insult someone. Screw people and their expectations of politeness, is what he says. This ties in to the fact that he is rude. His language is rude. His body language is rude. And even his appearance can be rude. This isn't to say that he can't be nice to others. He can, but only if he really wants to. None of that fake stuff that people do when they really want to punch someone in the face. It's too tiring and, in his opinion, unhealthy. His mother is the only person in the world (and any other world) who he'll ever be polite to just for the sake of being polite and even then its really stilted and you can obviously tell that he doesn't want to do it.
I'LL BE THERE If Tony says he'll do something then he'll do it and damn the consequences. People who go back on their word are some of the biggest scumbags that populate the world, in his sometimes not so humble opinion. His reliability is his best trait, but it can also get him into heaps of trouble if he isn't careful about it, especially if he doesn't know what he's getting himself into in the first place (which tends to be about fifty percent of the time). This has, predictably, landed him in a lot of trouble, particularly when he makes promises to the wrong kind of person and is blamed for whatever mess happens from the ordeal. Of course, for Tony to make you a promise he has to know you and like you, which is a hassle all on its own.
FORTUNE AND LOVE FAVORED Tony is pretty damn fearless. It isn't that he doesn't find things scary, per say, it's just that he doesn't particularly care that they're scary. As long as it's not one of his few fears, he'll simply treat it as he treats everything else - with anger. He doesn't view himself as being brave. Instead, he views this as common sense. Why should he be afraid of something he can crush with his foot? Why should he be afraid of something that it's his own choice to go into or not? He just doesn't see the point of being so afraid of things that someone can't even go about their life without a constant haze of fear settling over them. His anger will only ever grow if he crosses paths with someone who is afraid of too many things or afraid of stupid things and you should expect some yelling and angry hand motions when that happens.
NEVER LOOK DOWN ON OTHERS Tony may not be tolerant of the words that come from your mouth or even your presence, for that matter, but he is tolerant of the things someone might believe in. For example, if he is insulting your face for having too much makeup on it, he's not going to insult or make assumptions about why you're wearing so much makeup. He would never purposefully insult or badmouth a person's personal beliefs, no matter how much he dislikes said person. He considers it too low of a thing to do, even by his not-so-high personal standards and God forbid you start talking smack about another person's beliefs right in front of him, especially if he happens to like that person.
TOO GREAT A BURDEN He often says that he hates everything and this is mostly true. Tony is a hateful person, If his anger wasn't so explosive and in your face, than this is the trait that you should watch out for. He says that he hates so many different things and so many different people that, frankly, it's ridiculous. This hate is the reason why he's so angry all the time, because he can never seem to find much of anything that he likes enough to calm him down, which will only make him in angrier than he was before. If he hates something he will let it be known and, chances are, it'll be loud. It would be advisable to not tell him to calm down and/or to give something a second chance. He wont and he will simply yell louder.
NEVER BACK DOWN Tony does not back down from anything once he has put his mind to it. Whether it be simple stubbornness or a small amount of pride that doesn't make itself known in any other situations, he doesn't know, but what he does know is that he wont be deterred from any goal of his. As much as this might be a good thing, it will only ever get him into trouble, especially since he's "trigger happy" in the fact that he will confront you even if it's because of some small, stupid reason; and unless you back down first or something happens that makes Tony stop, this confrontation will last for a long time. He confronts others because he loves how "powerful" it makes him feel.
VIOLENCE IS NEVER THE ANSWER Despite how angry he gets, Tony will never - ever, ever, ever - resort to physical violence. He views it as the easy way out and there's too big of a chance for him too be injured if he were to ever resort to it. This includes fighting back. If someone throws the first punch, Tony will turn tail and run. There isn't anything in the world that would make him risk his own safety for something as stupid as proving a point. It was his brother who told him that violence was never the answer and that you should try and talk it out with the person before you even think about harming them. As you can see, Tony took this advice to a whole new level.
THE ATTENTION WHORE Tony thrives on attention - though, he'd be the last to ever admit this. He doesn't care if the attention is positive or negative, he simply needs it. If he sees your attention wavering from him, he'll yell louder or, if he hadn't been yelling, he'll start to yell. If you aren't focused on him and only him, he will honestly get angry. His flailing, his yelling, his bad language all boils down to the fact that it'll bring more attention to him than anything else. Of course, Tony never made the conscious decisions of doing all these for the attention, but unconsciously he has.
MINE, MINE, MINE Everything in Tony's personality boils down to this: he is selfish. Nothing he does is for another person's benefit. If he helps you, then it's only because if he didn't he would feel guilty over it and Tony does not like feeling guilty. He doesn't get into physical fights because he's worried about his own safety. He doesn't back down from a fight because, if he did, he would feel disappointed in himself. He hates the world because it's easier to hate it than to love it. He tolerates a person's beliefs because it makes him feel like he's a "good person" and that he isn't hated by others. He's just a selfish person and he'd be the first to admit it. But, if he were to ever do anything for the sake of another person and not himself, then something amazing would come into existence.
★ HISTORY
THE PARENTS Evita Ramona de Bosque Montilla is Tony's mother. Before her eldest son died she was a stern woman whose smiles were few and far between, although you could easily tell how much she loved her children. Like her husband she had big plans for Nicolao and was devastated when he got into an accident. After deciding to pull the plug she sank into a deep depression, which she has been struggling with for the last seven years. When she isn't in one of her moods (as Tony calls them), she and Tony get along well enough. On her bad days Tony does everything in his power to avoid her, knowing that it would be easier on the both of them.
Leandro Benitez Garcia is Tony's father. Tony inherited his quick-to-anger personality from his father, which is one of the reasons Leandro was much closer to Nicolao than he was Tony. After Nicolao's accident he locked himself away and made his wife make the decision of whether or not they should let Nicolao continue on the life support. After Nicolao died Leandro was overcome with grief and did the thing any grief-stricken, angry father would do - blame whoever was with his son at the time, which just so happened to be Tony. Ever since then the two have not gotten along, with Leandro continuing to blame Tony for whatever misfortune befalls them.
THE SIBLINGS Nicolao Santos Benitez de Bosque was Tony's older brother by five years. He was in an accident when he was fifteen and was in a coma for a little over a year before their mother decided to pull the plug. Tony was very fond of his older brother and, despite the five year age difference, the two were very close. They would often play soccer together or catch or anything simple like that, though soccer was their favorite. Nicolao was the apple of his parents' eyes and they had big plans for him. He was a pacifist and believed that there was always a way around using violence, especially when it came to interacting with others. To him, hurting other people (whether it be physical or mental) was one of the worst things a person could do. While he was still alive, he would teach Tony these beliefs in hopes that his younger brother would take them to heart.
THE RELATIVES Both of his parents are only children so Tony doesn't have any other relatives. His grandparents on his mother's side passed away years before he was born and his grandparents on his father's side passed away when he was still too young to really remember them. His family has never owned any pets before despite how much he and his brother might have wanted one.
THE MEETING Tony's parents met as any people do - in passing, unknowing of the cards that fate had dealt them. They met again, years later, at an office party where Leandro Benitez Garcia spilled his drink down the front of Evita Ramona de Bosque Montilla's dress. As an apology he offered to buy her a new one and a week later they met up at a small cafe where, as most people do, they drank coffee and made small talk. After the dress buying it was Evita who suggested that they meet up again - her treat in thanks for the coffee. This went on for five months before the two decided that they should date, which had the same feeling as the previous times they went out before. They dated for another five months before Leandro proposed and Evita, of course, accepted.
Another year passed and they were married and living in a three-bedroom house by the sea, which Evita inherited when her parents passed away. They spent their days together in the type of bliss that only ever came from being newlyweds and some months later Evita learned that she was pregnant. Overjoyed, the new parents eagerly started to decorate the room they picked for their first child and nine months later Nicolao Santos Benitez de Bosque was born.
THE OLDER BROTHER Nicolao was everything Evita and Leandro wanted in a child. He was fairly intelligent, quiet, and he listened when he was told to do something. Like most young parents do, they started to brainstorm ideas of what their first child would become when he was an adult and ready to face the world. They were so caught up in this that they decided that they didn't really want anymore children after Nicolao. They were content with simply having him. This isn't what fate had in store for them, though, and a few weeks after Nicolao turned five Evita learned that she was once again pregnant. Not believing in abortion or wanting to give away her child after he was born, Evita decided that she would keep him. Leandro was a bit more hesitant but he came around to his wife's views in the end. Nine months later, little Tony was born.
THE CHILDHOOD It was quickly learned that Tony was nothing like his older brother as he grew. He was loud, curious, and often didn't listen to a word his parents said, deciding to instead do everything they told him not to do. Evita and Leandro were exasperated but they loved Tony all the same. Nicolao, on the other hand, didn't get along with his new baby brother in the slightest. He wasn't used to the fact that he was now getting so little attention from them and he would often start to act out in an attempt to get the attention he had lost. Tony was too young to understand or even remember this and by the time he was old enough to, Nicolao had already settled into his role - that of an older brother and the eldest child.
By the time Tony had turned five his rowdiness had dwindled down into something much more manageable and he had started looking up to Nicolao which, in a five year old's mind, often meant trying to copy him and/or following him wherever he went. Having matured a bit beyond his age, Nicolao didn't mind this and would often try to impart some wisdom on his younger brother. Of course, being only ten years old, Nicolao's "wisdom" pretty much consisted of tips on how to not get in trouble or caught by their parents. Tony listened, as any child would do when their "hero" gave them advice, and the next five years passed in what could be called a rose-colored blur.
THE TRAGEDY By the time Tony was ten Nicolao had become his "most precious person" in that he was Tony's hero and best friend and any other positive adjective he could possibly come up with. His parents were mostly amused by this and happy from the fact that their two children got along so well, even with the five year age difference between them. As the years passed, Tony and Nicolao would often go to the neighborhood park and play with each other. They would play some type of sport or tag or whatever their young minds could possibly think of.
As Nicolao grew older, though, he began to have less and less time to spend with his younger brother which was hard on the both of them, since he hated disappointing Tony or making him sad in any way. One weekend in the middle of summer he had a free day to do with whatever he wanted and he decided that he and Tony would go to their favorite park, which they hadn't done since summer first began. Maybe if either one of them had known what was going to happen that day they would have simply opted to stay home. Fate's a cruel thing, though, and so they headed off to the park without a care in the world.
Tony was overjoyed by this. After all, he got to hang out with his brother and, if he was particularly good that day, Nicolao would buy him ice cream! There was no better way to make a child happy than offer them ice cream after spending a day playing in the park. The two played with each other for hours, switching back and forth between soccer and messing around on the small playground that was situated in the middle of the park. Their happiness was viciously cut short when Tony accidentally kicked their soccer ball into the street. Nicolao, being the older of the two and being closer to the street, offered to go get the ball, not at all expecting what would happen next.
Some would blame carelessness on his part but Nicolao really had no reason to pay any close attention to the street. Their neighborhood was a quiet one with hardly any cars going down that particular street. The ones that usually did often drove by during the late hours of the night but that wasn't the case that day. A woman had gotten lost and, annoyed like most would be, she hadn't been paying attention to the speed limit or the road until it was too late.
Years later, Tony still couldn't tell you what had happened. All he remembers is Nicolao bending to pick up the soccer ball one minute and the next his brother was laying on the street, a pool of red starting to form around his head. Everything after that was a blur of noise and color (that he's thankful for not being able to remember). It wasn't until a week after the accident that Tony could start to even remember the events that had passed. His life had been ripped apart at its seams and there was nothing anyone could do to sew it back together no matter how hard they tried.
For a little over a year Nicolao had been in a coma, his parents refusing to even think about taking him off the life support that they could barely afford. It wasn't until a month or so after the accident that Evita decided to end all their suffering in one fell swoop - she pulled the plug. Nicolao died a few hours later and the rip in Tony's life became a permanent fixture.
THE AFTERMATH A year after his brother's death Tony started to get involved in things that he really should have left alone. It was't like there was anyone to stop him. His mother was depressed and had been on so many different types of medication at one point or another that Tony had lost count. His father barely acknowledged his existence and when he did it was only to yell at Tony that everything had been his fault. And Nicolao... well, Nicolao was dead and there was nothing Tony or anyone could do about it.
So Tony immersed himself in anything he could get his hands on that would make everything go away. Sometimes he would simply sleep the days away. He made a habit out of skipping school or defacing school or public property - anything that would put him at the center of someone's attention. He was still young, after all, and he hadn't just lost his older brother that day - he had lost his parents and he had no idea of how to cope with it. He became closed off to the world, his anger growing and growing until it started to simmer just below the surface and turn into something much worse - hate.
He hated his parents. He hated school. He hated soccer and sports and parks. He hated himself. But, most importantly, he hated Nicolao for dying and leaving Tony alone.
At fourteen Tony tired drugs for the first time. Nothing too serious, but it wasn't an experience he'd ever like to do again. It left him powerless, unable to even turn the page of a book. Alcohol was next but, much like with the drugs, it left him powerless and unable to function - which he needed to do to be able to survive.
At sixteen Tony got his first piercing - a tongue piercing which he found to be exhilarating, despite his slight fear of needles. By this time he was in his last year of compulsory secondary education and there was no way that he was going to continue on to higher learning. This along with his frequent truancy, his need to deface school property, and his new piercing made him something of a "bad boy" in his school. Which wasn't saying much, in all honesty, as there were maybe seven hundred or so students that attended it as his hometown was quite small. It was around this time that Tony started dating - and by dating I mean sleeping with anyone who caught his interest and who he could tolerate for a good amount of time.
Boys, girls, people older than him, people younger than him: it didn't matter much to Tony and he soon found himself liking sex. It made it so that he had one hundred percent of someone's attention on him at all times and he loved it.
By seventeen he had gotten both his eyebrow and both ears pierced and had dropped out of school. His father yelled and raged at him for this but it was nothing new to Tony and he simply blocked out the lecture. His mother learned of it on one of her bad days and the amount of noise and life that came from her that day was the most that Tony had seen since he was ten. He still slept around but it happened less than before as he no longer had his "pick" from those that went to school with him.
At eighteen he no longer had his eyebrow or tongue pierced and he was working as a cashier in a grocery store. He had gotten his ears pierced again - this time the cartilage of both ears. His anger kept on growing, though, especially now that he was stuck working in a job he hates.
And then one day he got the most ridiculous message on his cellphone about some "digital world" needing help and just as he was about the delete the message, he was surrounded in a bright light before being unceremoniously dropped in some Godforsaken forest where the most ridiculous things grew on trees.

★ DIGIMON PARTNER
ROJYO THE GUILMON
Rojo retains little to no memories of his time as a Royal Knight. There's simply an urge inside of him to find his tamer and join up with the Rebellion. He's impulsive and never thinks things through, which often gets him into trouble. He attacks first and asks questions later, which annoys Tony to no end. He's loyal to Tony and is protective of his tamer but he also annoys Tony to no end and it's more common to see the two fighting with each other over stupid things than being quiet in each other's presence.
