Okay so all of my sites typically tend to fail but since I'm actually working with other people, i kinda really want it to succeed ya know? Help a sistah out? So typical idea. It's based off of Madoka and Code Lyoko and here's the general idea. Here's where the Madoka part comes into play: You get typical humans, interacting with wish granters (the kyubey of this rp) and when they make a wish they become "Contracted" (aka Magical Girls/Magical Boys) and they have to fight Vigans (Witches vegetarians ) Here's where the Code Lyoko part comes into play: You get stats, someone on the outside can help you out with the whole fighting thing, more stats, pretty simple. We only use HP, MP, SPD, DEF, VIT and ATK. None of the other schmancy fancy stuff, i can't even math so. So meshing those two ideas up, we all came up with this (Props to Yume and Melon for helping me out with this one)
- Trouble has arisen in Miraje, Vigans are becoming more prominent by the day. If things keep progressing at such a speed, Miraje could forever be under the control of these Vigans and their leader ____ . Yuma and Aria have taken human forms and traveled to the human world for one reason only, to gather people to fight these Vigans.
These wish granters have been targeting the weak and the troubled with the opportunity to change their lives. Many have fallen prey to these two, unknowingly asking for a wish to be granted. These people became known as the CONTRACTED, forced to travel to the Miraje and fight the Vigans. The only problem is, death in Miraje means death in the real world.
IS YOUR WISH WORTH IT?
OH Lemme add some people that I think could help me out with this one because I hear you guys are awesome with this stuff (Please don't feel like I'm nagging or dragging you guys in here, shoot don't even have to reply if you don't want to xD) Kuroya I'm a Melon ๖ۣۜΩmega middy♥ SIFR minnie MASQUE
Do you guys think it's interesting enough? I'm blind so sometimes I miss holes and ways to make it more interesting, anyone able to help out with this?

Unfortunately, I am a consumate stats hater so the stats part kinda turns me off? Well it depends.
By that I mean are the stats absolutely rigid and people have to grind/get more to actually be able to do things? Or is it a general guideline idea that allows people to get a certain idea? because with the first options, you easily get the min-max and powergamer crowd. And those tend to suck the fun out of an rp for the social players, as stats is too much for them to handle.
And the second option can still turn off social players, but since it's not as 'imperative' the min-maxer problems tend to not show up as much.
Not gonna lie, is this the site you have in your sig? Because I've peeked several times, went aw yiss and then cried because stats. xD But again that's a personal thing on the stat want/hate but I definitely think you should considering what the stats actually mean. Since I think that's one of the things that could be both a positive and negative magnet flow for members.
(as a side note, I've joined sites were stats were vague guidelines and worked just fine. I'll probably cave if it's something like that since you can still social a lot and not have to worry about getting your stats super high so that the powergamers crush you and get all of the stuff in events and what not.)

It is five in the morning and I'm sick so I'm going to put this as bluntly as possible. The less numbers you have on a site the better. I think I brought that up back with your SAO site because I'm personally not a huge fan of any stats period. You get too many people who join to be the best and only the best and that's a huge turn off for me. Not to mention that the more numbers get involved, the more time has to be spent tracking them, and dear gods please no I struggle hard enough tracking just money on sites. Not to mention stats completely takes out my favorite rp option, which is that I can be taken out by someone weaker than me who plays the game differently. Not better. Just differently.
I'm not saying don't have levels. I'm saying make things for those levels roll over as much as possible.
I also can't remember if I saw you still using the original experience and ap thing from the SAO site that also made me want to cry. Having everything based on staff discretion also freaks me out since yay fun now we get into some staff are lighter graders than others and some play favorites and no. That's all I have to say to that system. No.
There's a few other things I do differently (namely promos and events because I think "if I show up late here, how annoyed would I be to miss this?" to try to minimize the damage), but above all else, I try to play fair. Everyone has an equal chance if they put the time in. Staff don't get extra bonuses, new members don't get shinier things, I don't play favorites, I only stare at you and make strange noises if I don't like you and that's something based on how you treat me (usually disrespectfully) and it rarely impedes my ability to do things unless it becomes a huge problem.
But I have one massive help in my arsenal beyond being fair and thinking on a member "don't screw me" level (and this is really important to me because there are so many sites I would join if I hadn't thought the systems unfair). I have a bunch of RP friends that I can stare at on Skype and bat my eyes and they'll usually come with me. They're most of the population on DTA right now... and several of them I've known from various sites I've joined as a normal member, become staff on, and became close with them. We've got plots that carry us across things and they have an idea of what I generally bring to the table. They know I'm not one to shame or judge or add really weird restrictions suddenly without very good reason or unless I'm out-voted by almost all the staff.
Plus I seem to get lucky and pick things that are more popular when I do them. Pokemon is doing well again with XY and ORAS hype and Fire Emblem is apparently on an high rp-wise right now. Magical Girls seems to be popular but I don't remember a Code Lyoko site making it big around now, and there's the added bonus of if someone isn't so familiar with both, they may not be so quick to join, especially if it steps on their other pet peeves in RP (ie, rude or impolite or unfriendly staff, but I'm not getting into that can of worms).
And good gods this got long I'm gonna shut up now after fifteen plus minutes of swiping and leave you with my thoughts on what has worked and has not worked on my end.

MASQUE (Yep! It's the one in my sig) I feel you on the hating stats thing since I never really liked it to begin with but with what we have going on, it sorta just helps since we sorta planned on adding another factor in the RP. We kinda just have the basic of the basics. I wanted to simplify things, maybe take out some of the stats since they aren't as important as I thought they'd be. With the whole events thing though, we planned on separating them since we didn't want to have events solely for the people who are Contracted. When we do events we sorta double it up (For humans/Contracted) so if you're human, you have something and you're Contracted then you also have something to do. This was sorta my idea though but I don't know if it would work or not. - - - - - - KuroyaContracted actually can't battle each other, they can't hurt each other so if someone who's much stronger than you were to actually try and hurt you... It wouldn't work at all. We thought of that one bit for once. Events are usually divided into sections though, I kinda didn't want the higher level Contracted to over take the others so when you're a certain level you'd have to participate on the separare "higher level" portion. Is that fair? I thought it was but maybe I was wrong? I've seen other sites that kinda just have one big event for everyone and it honestly didn't make any sense, how's a level 1 going to compete with a level 90? I have no friends Kuroya! Don't tell me to bat my eyes on skype and drag people with me //cries

Then why the frick even have stats at all good gods the only time I really want to see stats beyond the basic "here have levels and basic exp" is for PvP options. Though I say this as an absolute stat minimalist - I don't like tracking them, I don't like updating them, and I especially hate the mentality they bring of always trying to reach the next threshold and it just really sucks the fun out of RPing for me. I don't want to play with a bunch of people who are going to trollop my butt all the time because that's all they want to do. It's not fun for me. Not really. No. If I want to lose all the time, I'll do Pokemon modding. *slaughtered*
Sections makes a bit more sense but I was meaning that more in a "I personally like repeatable boss events" type of way. It really annoys me when I join up with a site that's just finishing up a big promo or event that handed out xyz special things and they either won't be handed out again period or they won't show up for a really long time. It's a major turnoff for me. If you run a boss that drops a special item, make the boss a repeatable event but have it drop the item less frequently after the first time (and add cooldown times since staff need breaks too). Make one-time events and promos have rewards that can be gotten normally or have few bonuses. A lot of what I said bounced back and forth from really specific to really general so.
Dude you've been running around on forums for almost as long as I have, how have you not found a couple people who will come with you no matter what the frick you're doing? No but okay I got a lot of those peeps actually through just joining other people's sites. Having friends really helps an RP since then you not just get members to help a site start up but you also have a dependable beta testing system as well as the potential to maybe tap a few for staff that you know their track records. I cannot tell you how many times I have mentally cried over tapping members for staff that have been less reliable than friends I've tapped that I knew had the right mindset for it. Though I'm a bit of a dork and I pride myself on welcoming staff since if there's ever one thing that will turn me off for an RP, no matter how much I like it, it's if the staff are rude, unwelcoming, or just outright ignore/attack me. Next to that is the same behavior out of the general members, so there you go, very important nugget of help, staff and memberbase is everything for a lot of RPers

Sorry, I wasn't that specific before so lemme explain. Contracted can't fight other contracted but there are a separate category that can. We weren't going to introduce them until the second part of the plot. I dunno, I suck at this stuff //cries. The way we made it though, it's not like.
We do repeat events though, our opening event is going to reappear in the next couple of weeks or so. Thanks for the event advice though, we'll take that and try to work it into the place. Won't be all that hard to do really.
Yeah... I may be running through sites for a while but I rarely stay that long because of real life stuff //hatereallifesohard. I have a few, a few.... Apparently I'm more known for my skins than roleplay? I think? //criessomemore.

No but for srs I saw you lay out that many stats and I immediately though "plz gods no". Even when I bring in "stats" for systems, it's very basic, like a percentage health system or percentage mana system. Percentages. Are. Your. Friends. *gropes around for them and then lies on top of them with a purr*
Okay good since I literally cannot tell you how many times it annoys me to see MMO type sites with big important events dropping big important items and they don't have any real feasible options to get them other than the one event. Or Pokemon sites where they have xyz rares that can only be rolled in certain conditions and I'm too late for the promo with them and plz no. In the words of my mother, "provide for all or provide for none". *stamps seal of approval on that*
Well if your real life is busy maybe it'd be a better idea to join rather than make? Unless you're lucky to get a really good staff team, in my experience, if staff can't be around to do stuff, the site stagnates and all hell breaks loose. Some do survive, but most do not. *casts wary glance over shoulder*

Yeaaah, I'm not 100% sure how the whole percentage thing works since I've never made one like that and I've never even been apart of a site that works like that. //noobsorry
Yeah that annoys me too, I get it, hence why we aren't doing that.
Yeah actually Yume (who is technically unkown on PB world) is really nice and active and gosh she's pretty great when it comes to these things. Melon has also been helping out and she's being pretty good staffie right now :'D

Aaaah, I'm honoured but I'm a piece of shit at the moment, you don't want me on staff. Between having the patience of a pitbull while I've been sick and not having the attention span to do more than play video games after work, I am literally the most terrible admin on the planet atm.
Plus, I haven't ever seen Code Lyoko?

I was just wondering in which areas I could improve, what doesn't work, what does work etc... You should really watch Code Lyoko though, it's pretty great!

-TACKLES Dorothia - WHAT AM I THEN A STICK IN THE MUD!? but no srsly, I saw a site a while back that had like, 3 stats. Hp, atk and def. atk was how much hp went poof, def was how much it took off attack. And hp was how much you had. It was simple, efficient, and kept the complicatedness out of the hole and stuff. (basically if you had 15 atk, smacked someone with 10def and 20 hp, you'd do 5 damage to them and they'd be at 15 hp. Clear, solid and pretty simple as shit) and it was pretty easy to keep track of. -shrugs- I'm a super fan of super easy stats because it's nice to have a hard limit. What helped is that the stats were for PvM only and for PvP you had the classic 'figure your shit out but no godmodding, metagamin, powerplaying or overlogic.' I've been meaning to watch Code Lyoko you have no idea /sobbusAlso Kuro is totes right on the friend's list. I'm a semi-flaker, I tend to flake if I feel like the community is shoving me aside or are being unreliable. Sometimes, it just won't hold my interest either, and I feel kind of bad since I silently leave, because I tend to forget about shit. That and my muse is fickle as buttnuts. But Kuroya keeps dragging me places and forces me to stay and I don't mind that at all. (she even made me staff when I was asleep, forcibly hired gg). Gah, I'm rambling I tend to do that. tl'dr is simply stats = win for everyone involved, I /love/ the seperated event ideas like you have no idea, Kuro drags me everywhere and I'll let you do that to me too because you are a super cool person and well, if you're gonna change the stats to simple I'll go give the site a whirl and see what else I can go point out that's awks.

Huh. Okay, that's actually how it is on bud. We added VIT (Which is just your HP to be honest) and SPD (Which is the amount of attacks you can have per post.) Is that too much? just wondering here huehue I thought it was pretty straightforward.
Gotcha, I'll drag you to the ends of the earth with me bb
