It's been decided! Thanks so much guys~
We need mayor help.
Here's the skinny:
We are uncertain on how to handle fusions in our site to be. Mainly because it's two players fusing to create one, and then... they would have to share it? That obviously spells trouble for me.
More details:
Fusion is a big deal in Steven Universe. I did think of just eliminating it, but honestly one just cant. We figured we could limit it as much as possible, but then here it starts to get even more complicated.
You know that saying? "Keep it simple stupid". I live by that. The simpler it is for players and staff to just go and rp, the better. Which is why for forum roleplays I highly dislike systems. Keep them for table top roleplays and I'm happy.
Now, for having two people share a character, all the options we've come up with end up being a complicated system...
So here I am, hoping that members, and past or current staffers, from various sites could help shine some light here. If you had a site where two characters merged/fused and created a new one, how would you handle that? Have you seen other websites deal with this successfully? Or at all?

Joint Posts. One of the best ways I can think of to do it would be that the two+ involved in a gem fusion would need to write the post together using something like google docs or meetingwords.com/I suggest this as someone who has done a few RPs where another person needs to play the voice in my character's head or vice versa, or perhaps two characters are having a rapid-fire argument and keep cutting each other off - what better way to keep that organized and tightly done than in a single post, rather than broken up? Pros: One neat post, a cool group effort, helps better people are writers to collaborate Cons: People actually need to want to write together and be able to make decisions as to whose idea may sometimes trump others Steven Universe Spoilers below. For example, Sugilite begins to lose the core of individuality of the gems making her up - Garnet and Amethyst - so it would be really interesting to see that written, where as Malachite would need the component gem characters to really fucking argue and fight and hate each other and clearly have a Dominate RPer in charge? If that makes sense.
Then you can get stuff like in Keeping It Together
I'm kind of hyped for your site ngl so i really want to help you get this stuff down since i know how admining systems can be a pain.

I have an issue with google anything cause it's blocked in China. China and Google just don't get along. This is a pretty nice way to do it. It's similar to a chat rp, no?
This whole sharing a character thing has been an issue for a long time for me. I used to play in a Soul Eater rp, and even though they don't share bodies it was hard cause it was all weapon thoughts, while the meister moved.
This way has it's flaws as well, but I like how it just gets the players in there and roleplaying. And honestly, I don't think any way we do decide to go with with will not have it's flaws. I would just like it to be easy and fun for both staff and members.
I'll check this further when I get home today. I'm hoping this has a way for only certain people to edit it. We wouldn't want random people changing things for the heck of it.
You're always welcome to join us on skype where we mostly discuss building the site. Just PM me if you're interested. You don't need to stay as staff either. If you just wanna help set up and join as a member later that's fine too.
+unique / new / different -unwanted edits to the doc / issues if point system is implemented

alright, so peridot's Grumpmer's ideas are great. like, when fused the component gems can make a joint post together and just split the post in half. Like, both of them type up a total of 400 words. component 1 posts the first 200, and component two posts the remaining 200 words. So it is technically a joint post, just split between the component gems.
not sure if this is what Grumpmur meant as broken up or a collaborated single post.

hell0
But maybe they do a single post each or a kind of conversation and then one of them post the outcome of the internal argument. Like this sorta:
Ruby: makes post trying to convince sapphire to beat the shit outta peridot Sapphire: no pls *have a few post of arguing it whatevs* Ruby OR Sapphire post as garnet: actual action occurrs.
Of course these internal conversations would be near instant as far as how much time passed IC

I'm just worried how much detail one could get in when you have so little to say. We personally haven't decided, but say we have a word count min, I think it would be hard for players to think up what to say in between these thoughts. Regardless of that little problem (which it really isn't much) this is also a nice simple way to churn it out. Though slow. + simple - slow / issues with point systemThanks for the comment posidem, very much appreciated.
