Also, I know 'people will join regardless of host if they're decent' but in my experience they won't. I don't have friends like Skull, I can't bully them over, and you would not believe how many times I've had guests say "oh this is great! ... but it's jcink, bye". Even when I did [have friends] I had to spend several days trying to convince them to give it a try! I don't want to sit around by myself because that's kind of shitty? the rl rp community is more open to different hosts but i don't like that if i can avoid it so actually what people think about hosts is important to a loner like me. I have stuck with jcink since I first decided it was magic and there has been a huge difference in the number of wandering guests who will settle down now as compared to when I first started - and for the most recent, I actually think it has to do with Electric more than anything (hi electric thank you for having friends). Just because ambivalence towards changing hosts is mainly voiced on resource boards doesn't mean others don't think the same way. Maybe you were advertising in Proboards forums? That would really explain why you'll have bias guests coming. I did a sort of trial run with Trionfi and I met some fabulous people there. I mostly advertised on IF and Jcink because they were the community I wanted. Face claims weren't necessary but people were surprisingly animanga. Also, there's nothing wrong being a loner. I don't actually like bringing over friends unless I'm desperate lolsorryguys because I want to start fresh and experience new shit stuffs *_*

Just to clear things up, I have absolutely no issue with being a loner, it was said in reference to the fact that I don't have the option that Skull does/did with friends being willing to try new things and establish a member base with. And I don't just advertise on a single host either - my advertising is mostly done on other IF/Jcink boards and through the 'looking for RP' section on resource sites.
Trionfi was made at least a year after my first Jcink site, which was open for two/three months and got... three members. The amount of people who are willing to try Jcink and are animanga rpers has significantly increased since then, but it's been slow, and my concern is with how long it will take to get the majority to be comfortable to expand even further away from their comfort zones.

well to chip in, it's not that i'm averse to new site hosts when i pick a site, but--i do find that jcink has a very counter intuitive feel to it? admittedly this may be colored by years of rping solely on proboards, but i'm not entirely sure it is. i made the jump from livejournal rp to proboards without the curve i've had on jcink. it seems unwieldy at times, and i'm wary of the place on a personal level ever since the brps post on the admin's girlfriend, tbh. so i'm seconding my own notion early in thread that proboards never change
