The desert country spans for hundreds of miles, nigh on every inch a grain of bitter, acrid, dead sand. There never is enough water. If only the people could spend their days, imagining the drip of it, the small splash, echo in a tin mug, the voice of a kindly god... But even their fabricated superstitions have abandoned them in the delirious drought; the only moisture to be found the world over is blood. Exhausted from the oppressive totalitarian regime, the sighs of fatigue have developed into a wind, carrying the message of blustery freedom, kicking up the sand into a hurricane of change. As abundant as the chalky white grains around their feet, there is conflict. An occult group of freedom fighters, abusing deep dark magic from aeons ago to fortify their cause, known only as Libra, are gaining strength day by day. The Government too are turning to the Devil in order to keep the peace. As a million tongues thirst at the oasis of power, perched above it all is a single flower. A desert flower of hope. Hope for what, exactly, is yet to be seen - all that is certain is once the spring runs dry, the flower will wither, and with all creation, simply die.
That's all I have so far, but basically I'm going to run a gritty dark fantasy role play set in the desert with themes of corruption collusion and awesome magic powers wahey whoop whoop. I was just really wanting to know if my WIP description of a setting was enticing to anyone? If there was any confusion I have compiled a break down of the what the hell is going on variety:
- Water is scarce in this world. It cannot be synthesised with magic.
- Whilst Libra are fighting to overturn the Government, they are not automatically good guys. They will do anything to get into power, regardless of morals.
- Whilst the Government are a little more publicly shady than Libra, they are keeping people employed and with homes and with basic supplies, and yunno, act like a normal government.
- The world has guns and rudimentary engines. Most people get around on foot or on sand-mobiles.
- There's a certain kind of "crystarium" of magical abilities.
- >90% of characters will have access to some sort of magic.
- Everyone is on one of two sides okay for realsies no fakesies.
- Animanga rp guys
- Of course, the members' actions dictate the plot
