How do you come up with thread titles?
I know most people go for song lyrics and quotes so I try to steer away from them (not that lyrics are bad. I don't really know a diversity of songs xD). Usually I make up my own quote or I pick up a term or phrase that most people don't use. I find these terms everywhere in books or lectures. Some examples are The Philosopher King which I learned from a social science class; Bonifacio Bones referring to the issue around Andres Bonifacio's missing remains; and Salt Of The World right straight from the Bible where salt symbolizes what is most important.
When I invent my own quote, I usually go for something ironic or strange plus some good, old alliteration. It has to still sound nice and have meaning though. I come up with stuffs like The Quiet Rhymes (being able to resonate with each other without words which really reflects the thread I used it for since a character there was mute), Converging Exits (two people leaving their own roads and meeting at the end to make a new beginning) and Shore of Sulfur (sulfur being a symbol of hell and atonement with shore a reflection of my char's theme.)
I also use a full sentence or long phrases sometimes xD I think they're the most random I come up with.
I love coming up with these stuffs but I admit that they are a pain. I never repeat the same thread title and some of them are unique to my characters. It takes me random Internet surfing to come up with stuffs. Sometimes it takes me days to put a thread up because I can't stand not having a thread title first or I couldn't come up with one to put it up.

for serious threads, i'm cliché. song titles, lyrics, the odd mixed-up quote here and there. i'm not creative. sometimes i try to be, they don't work out. sometimes i just use words i like.
for non-serious threads, i just put up something stupid. "watchin u [open]" "wtf r u lookin at [closed]" "can u see me im [open]"
once i couldn't think of a thread title and i just... left it blank. it was literally titled '[open]'

i always liked yr thread titles pretend i didn't tell you that ._.
ok this is super embarrassing and weird but for thread titles, i go to livejournal and look up the keywords people use for their icons and then use those lmao
i have a little document list of them
as a result, some are original phrases, some are song lyrics those people used as keywords, and then i also have a bad habit of using supernatural/one tree hill/the oc episode titles as thread titles lmAO IM GOMEN
(excerpt from my list of potential thread titles/template lyrics document):
suburban war you're not dying my song has not been sung the sky is low it's a shame i'm dreaming if I was young once I wanted to be the greatest a hero never turns around we were the light that never failed horizons

i think at one point i just pulled touhou game titles and song titles and w/e for thread titles because there's an endless list of them subterranean animism, shoot the bullet, flowering night, etc etc. reach for the moon, too.
otherwise, i just pick a line from whatever song i listened to last. (oops sorry not creative)

my thread titles just come to me. like, if it's a planned thread, usually I'll do something in relation to what is happening or what will happen. ie. the character is a playboy etc and he's just hitting on another girl, it'd be titled something like " butterfly, c " because he's being a butterfly and tasting honey from lots of different flowers. Sometimes, it can be something totally random that hits me in the head like " black smoke, c ".
I have a few songs that I default to for song lyrics for each character. ie. for one of my characters, I always get lyrics from I Remember by Bang Yongguk ft. Song Ji Eun and Going Crazy by Song Ji Eun ft Bang Yongguk. Sometimes I will throw in a few more songs depending on my mood or the characters' relationships.
On HTML sites, where your post title is different by post, I tend to use longer lyrics. ie:
" look into my eyes " " it's where my demons hide "
" i'm falling " " harder than a landslide "
" what do I have to do " " to make you see " " this is who I am? "
etc etc. I guess most of mine are more spontaneous though. I just try to make myself seem deep-

wow tanz you're really good at making up cool discussion threads js js
well 9/10 chances are is that i'll be playing music while i write posts, and as long as its an english song i'll just pick that song title or a lyric that just happens to be sung... i like pretty lyrics but sometimes (rarely) i try and pick relevant lyrics or just come up with a fun phrase like an oxymoron or something LOL

I just try to associate something within the thread and use words that match it. It's nothing very special but it's usually enough that I can manage to get something to be memorable and I don't have to flick through different threads to find it. xD

did someone say within temptationI don't think there's really nothing not creative about using songs. From the looks of it, most of us pick titles that we just feel like using or/and feel appropriate for the thread. We just have different preferences on where we ninja the idea. I'm pretty geeky so I really like doing technical research. I also enjoy reading the dictionary when I was young and I remember going OOOH and AHHH at pretty-sounding words. Hell, I named my first Pokemon team after the things I find in Microsoft Word's thesaurus. I named my character Valiant and I had a Gardevoir named Anomalous.for non-serious threads, i just put up something stupid. "watchin u [open]" "wtf r u lookin at [closed]" "can u see me im [open]" once i couldn't think of a thread title and i just... left it blank. it was literally titled '[open]' I use thread titles like that for some of my sillier chars where you'll just expect them to do something hilarious. I think I'm pretty corny when I'm being funny but I often justify that saying it's the character that's being corny and not meand lmao I just try to associate something within the thread and use words that match it. It's nothing very special but it's usually enough that I can manage to get something to be memorable and I don't have to flick through different threads to find it. xD Sample sample sample wow tanz you're really good at making up cool discussion threads js jsJin is actually paying me to post threads like this. Also I didn't see people reply here because the recent posts was swarmed by signature eggs.

I'm lame. I just use song lyrics because I HATE coming up with titles. Why do you think all my sites have dumb names? Sometimes, when I can't even think of a relevant lyric, I just use the lyric of whatever song I'm listening to at the moment.

It depends. I try to match to what is going on. It has to fit the mood. I will sometimes take it from a song title or a line from the song. Other times it'll just pop in my head as I write the thread in word. There were times ( if it's an open thread ) I'll just match to how my character would feel.

Hm, usually I try to come up with something witty. When that fails, I resort to puns or to something I believe accurately portrays what the thread will be about. It takes a lot of assuming on my part and you know what they say about the word "assume" right? (It makes an a-word out you and me).
