Whenever people type without a registered profile, cbox registers the profile and gives it a password that no one knows. So I have to keep deleting them and see if by some miracle they can suddenly register it.

How long has the problem been persisting? And does it only happen for a few, same people? I took a quick search and found this:

another possibility is a quite known CBox bug: if you've not registered your name it can happen that after a few posts the system thinks your name is being used by another person (while in fact you've been using it all the time) and prohibits you from reusing it. just wait a few hours and your name should become free again. feel free to register it then so as to keep it permanently.

Oh it's happened to me a few times before - this might seem like the obvious but check the settings for registering profiles on cbox and maybe undo "members must be registered" if it's checked.
