/trying to convey a point means small and uh, nice text structure right??? lol. /shot
Anyway, what stops you from joining in real life faceclaim sites? Or vice versa, what stops you from joining animanga sites? For anyone who does both, this doesn't really apply to you, but you can say what lets you join both or something?
Uh, for me. I hate making graphics, especially since photobucket kinda PLLSSTSHSGS thing with the editor. I also find roleplaying to be an escape, and having real life fcs kinda ruins it all? Plus, you can never really seem to find "eccentric" face-claims. I found maybe two female fcs without normal colored hair and no males-
IDK, there's something off putting about the whole thing. I've tried joining them I really have.

because i have no collection of good rl fcs beyond benedict cumberbatch.
and a couple of japanese actors.
if there's an rl site that interests me enough to do more effort in fc finding though, i'll join it. and i do keep tabs on atr for skin inspiration/site looking so i am trying.

word counts, applications, graphics making.
+ roleplaying a rl person is so much weirder than rp'ing an anime person to me.
plus settings are always the same to me. i don't mind sol but when all sol sites are on the beach it gets kind of lame.

word counts for sure. a lot of RL sites just have crazy word counts from the members, not from the site rules. i get super stressed trying to make long post. the biggest thing is that i just don't know anyone and i feel really intimidated by RL role players. they also seem to have less.. interesting/wild characters? not face claim wise, but personality. i remember once i joined a site and made a girl that was exceptionally tall for a female (5'11) and had huge issues with it, and the staff made a point to say that it was "unrealistic" for her to be that tall.
i still try now and then but i can never keep up the muse.
slightly off topic, but i feel like RL sites really emphasize form over function. does anyone else feel that way or notice it?
gosh now i want to go join one

rl rps are alsp usually pretty redundant and are typically either harry potter, sol, or celeb. the only recent rl fc site i've been on has been korean industry rp, which for some reason i enjoy probably because my love for korean music and culture knows no bounds. also maybe because i have this negative view of american stars because of scandals and drugs and all i don't enjoy seeing their faces everywhere. also you can easily find pictures of obscure korean models and such (which feels like impossible for american/european models idk that might just be me), so you won't be seeing the same 10 korean idols over and over again.
and also i've been watching a lot of korean & japanese dramas which is like...the next step from anime, so it sort of makes sense i guess idk. i also enjoy rping in settings that i wouldn't normally go to - so rping anime is a thing because i'll never be an anime character so it feels less rl and more fun. that's also why i rp'd animals too, so rping somewhere like korea or japan or something is also a thing.
the only downside of rping rl is probably because like...some people can't really make images so you get that stretch effect because most of the anime community has like over 9000 100x100 icons so you don't really have a lot of that and for some reason the rl community loves using icons that are like 500x500. :'D
but then again, an fc shouldn't really deter you from joining a site if you really like the concept (ie. HUNGER GAMES as a lot of the anime community has been wanting, there's a bundle of rl fc hunger games sites out there that are all beautiful).

lol garden there's a lot of girls who are 5'11-6'2 who are very insecure about their height. wat
anyway, i agree with you too seadra. a fc shouldn't deter you from joining a site if you really like the concept.
/but it does for me sometimes sobs

okay back to what garden was really saying, uh, normally i see irl sites on jcink so the skins are normally kinda plain and all the same but what gets me is like, the hovers every three seconds (dont get me wrong i love hovers though, but not everywhere b/c theyre special) people put gifs on the top of their post, with weird fonts and sometimes you cant read and its kinda like "who has the prettiest pictures and graphics-" "LET ME MAKE THIS GIANT SIGNATURE" "i can edit hp spells into my images!!!" rather than rping sometimes??? /i think im missing your point.

Oh no, that's totally part of my point! A big thing for skins use to be side bar with the forum RIGHT NEXT TO IT. Like, every skin had that. I also agree hovers are used a lot, especially in role play posts. Which is one of the things I'm especially pointing at. I think RL sites have so many gorgeous templates, but a lot of them are just... stupid. They're gorgeous, but that's it. I've seen templates that pretty much have this post area that is no bigger than like 150 x 200. And then the constant hover to read the post - very frustrating! It's not something I want to role play with, which I think can be considered another reason I don't join them that often.

I tend to shy away from RL sites because they tend to care more about RPing with their eyes, rather than their minds. But anime sites are guilty of the same things as well. Now I realize that's just what most RP sites have become...

nothing but the word count stops me, really.
my experience with rl sites so far have been relatively pleasant, except for the insane word counts. i actually haven't seen someone use small text boxes in writing a post; the only time was in a plot page, and that person was previously only on animanga. so yeah.

I'd easily join a rl rp. I'm a huge sucker for marauder era harry potter roleplays too. But I have to agree about the post counts. Even if the admin doesn't specify it, your application is expected to be 800+ words. They always include "more is not necessarily better", but I've had my application denied for being "too short" (I wrote 1,200 words) and that it didn't "accurately capture the canon". Also, all the freestyle applications are annoying. Questionaires are interesting, but I prefer when people just tell me what the hell to write so I can roleplay.
I prefer model-only sites mostly because I dislike it when people use non-fitting face claims for certain characters (i.e. kim karadashian as a 17 year old or in the animanga community, matsumoto from BLEACH for a 16 yearo ld). But someone has once told me that they come off as slightly elitist, so idk, that's up for discussion too.
I also like them because as a POC, I like to play other POC. So few POC in animanga community (male wise).

I have tried before but it just didn't stick with me. Probably because the site wasn't interesting to begin with. The plots to me are almost always the same. It's like there isn't that spark that makes you want to join and rp like a mofo. XDD So, what comes down to is that I haven't found a rl site that is unique. The plot itself has to be uber magical to want me to join & rp my life away. j/k Or am I? LOL!
Also, I have another excuse but it's probably a stupid reason. I love. I LOVE USING ALUCARD & INTEGRA WHENEVER I HAVE THE CHANCE. <3 *___* I'm a huge fan of hellsing. Ok...I'm done.
