I've actually never been on an animanga site I don't think. Everything I rp on I tend to use RL Faceclaims. I've never found a site that I can understand and I worry that everything on Animanga sites focus on the 'omg shiney sparkle graphics'. It just... kinda feels... off putting if that makes sense. This is funny, because that's how 98% of the anime rpers feel about rl sites. :'D soooooo, with that said, if you want to try out anime sites at any point we'd love tah help ya out! ♥

(actually someone from animelandia should try and make an rl site) (and vice versa) (i'm interested on how this will turn out)

i started making a real life fc site bc it's a setting i don't think can be done justice w/ animanga fcs but...i got lazy. also kinda discouraged bc a lot of people i talked to were like "uh i'd join if it was animanga but..."

tbh I think you guys are just looking at the wrong places when it comes to rl settings being boring. right now anime settings are generally stale as of late, and i don't see any difference from the style of rl settings compared to animanga ones?
so far my list of interesting rl plots i've seen contains 1) a 1940's rp centralized on espionage with a dash of superpowers 2) a steampunk dystopia with very active politics 3) this rp experiment that describes itself as postmodern deconstructionist setting that focuses on exploring literary limits

i feel bad for rl fc admins (and maybe rl fc rp'ers too at this point) who are on gangnam style and are reading this thread. We are more of an animanga community xD but look at it this way, they get to hear what makes us uneasy about potentially joining. Also, sorry about that comment about shine. I didn't have a good impression in another IF resource site before it. The templates I've seen people use from there are just too graphic-centric, text too small, scrolls quite common, and too many hovers and fancy fonts from google. And even before the templates, the trend in skins are too compact and colorful. I grew up in IF and was used to its sleek, more professional skins. The IPB skins nowadays have been screaming girly to me. Anyway, going back on topic, I guess I could add that I don't really like some fc choices I've seen in RL sites. I've seen Emma Watson be used as an fc quite a number of times in different sites. Animanga RPers to tend to use some popular fcs but they're not often as iconic as celebrities, and there's the magic of artists who draw them in different styles. Nitpicking at fcs is lame but that did add a negative impression for me. Not to say that the animanga is better than real life sites. It's still just a matter of preference for me and if it comes to real interest, won't matter at the end.

actually this thread is making me think of the rps that are neither real life or animanga, they have you find original (typically western/"realistic") art and use that.
been in quite a few of those, they're a+ usually fantasy oriented as well, which is my thing.

Wow that must really reassure all those rl-fc admins. Just like how all those threads on rl sites about anime rpers being immature Narutards really helps me as an admin. HOPEFULLY what people can take away from this thread is to not judge an entire group by the part of it they don't like. Or, you know, go out and be more diverse and look for RPs that actually interest them. Maybe get a wider feel for the RP community as a whole. Maybe stop looking at rl rpers with biased preconceived ideas. I'm with novas why do people not join sites for the stupidest reasons

i got that itch to join a RL site and after looking at them, any of them i wanted to join pretty much consistently had size 8 - 9 sized font using a font face that made it pretty much illegible. this wasn't even a few of them. it was probably half. the ones that didn't didn't have layouts i cared for in general.
i'm not going to join a site if i can barely read board titles or descriptions, y'know?
i agree animanga can be very, very aesthetic-focused but i've never run into the issue of using illegible fonts at tiny sizes.

i shy away from them because of gifs (which slow down my computer), and they're image heavy (which slows down my computer). most of the ones that i've found myself looking at just take so long to load that i have a hard time being able to see whether i'll really enjoy it or not.
not that some anime forums don't do this too, i mean i personally really prefer minimalistic skins that don't have lots of pictures everywhere or heavy code - they turn me away just as much. but i guess i also rarely search through animanga sites for places to rp because generally i just make my own (so it's not really an issue in animanga for me).
plus... um... i really love using some of my anime claims... like so much... i can't use them on a RL forum, there aren't even RL people that look like them so... yeah. quq

As someone that likes both--it's weird, like. I can do either, but I'm especially picky when it comes to joining new sites in general, so idk. But I hunt for new rps, and I hate that animanga communities are, understandable, largely focused on some anime series. I mostly like original concepts, so I have a hard time finding that where there's anime fcs. And while there's tones of, not so much completely original plots, but not tailored entirely after a show (unless it's hp, omfg. Hp in rl is like pokemon to anime). Anyway, they're different enough to catch my interest, aesthetically pleasing enough to not annoy, even though I notice a lot of what Garden described as "form over function" in the rl comm, anime rps tend to do the same. Though rl puts SO MUCH FOCUS ON IT, ideky. Also, the people often come off as cold to me? I've joined a few rl rps, and every time I just stopped logging on because I knew I wouldn't be missed. Yet, maybe it's my bias that makes me feel the reason was because my graphics weren't pretty enough, or my lack of templates bored people. I can do the same on an animanga rp, but when I stop logging on for the same reason it's never such a heavy blow to my ego because perhaps I'm more comfortable on anime sites.
I rp to relax, have a good time. If I really like a site, I'll join. If I feel unneeded or ignored, I'll leave. If I feel too much pressureto use a certain claim to get attention, or use template, obvsly, iI'll think negatively of the community. I don't describe fun as pushing the limits of my comfort zone, I do what I want when I feel like doing it. It really isn't who I am, or how I rp. I can't join every site out there, so naturally I'll do what any human does and weigh my pros and cons. I know more ppl on the anime sites, I have more fcs available to me, better graphics and I don't have to learn or grow accustom toa new host--since most rl rps I find are usually invision-based or w/e.
If that's trivial, oh well. I'm not here to satisfy anyone else. Just me. If that makes me trivial, or anyone that feels the same, you're just petty--and as a former rl admin I don't find anything offensive. I don't care what people like? It's just a forum, and there's plenty of other people that enjoy rl rps, so... idk. No one needs to feel bad? Do what you like, honestly, no one fucking cares. At least I don't, idky ppl have to be so damn judgy.
Jsing.
