Well what do you guys think? Can it work in the ideal sense where everyone really gets along? Where you can trust ppl to not rage and delete the site? If everyone has the pw to the admin account, every member has a staff/ ooc account, can it work without bursting into flames?
I made a site once, low key, new ooc name, where I pmed everyone accepted a note saying WELCOME TO THE COMMUNISM, and gave them admin accnt pw. It was some medieval sandbox back in february or something. I can say there was absolutely no drama, but then again, there wasn't much interest in joining so i think only 4-5 people ended up with the password LOL.
Also, just wanna say that if anyone wants to create such a site, ill skin it for free!

what if i join but don't want ur password Think of it like taxes. But the perk is you can accept your character or your friend's character. You can bypass the little annoyances of having to get admin permission. Or are we all secretly in love with the hierarchy? (is ignorance of not knowing the admin pw a form of bliss?)

it's an interesting concept, but if everyone is allowed to accept their own characters and you have a really popular site idea and therefore get a good amount of members, you're bound to have characters that shouldn't be accepted getting accepted.
i also wouldn't probably consider this myself for personal reasons - i've been on two sites where the admins went psycho and literally deleted everything without warning, and i lost a lot of good stuff. so it's kind of just a paranoia thing for me, lol.

Yeah, it is an interesting concept.
Okay, so let's say, theoretically, a god-modding member or a character that shouldn't have been accepted /was/. Couldn't the members just avoid such a character if it wasn't liked? I've seen as much happen when a poor writer is approved. If there is a communal disapproval of such an intolerable character, would the community reaction of not threading with them be enough?
Furthermore, as far as psycho admins go - would such people join/create a communism, and would being in such an environment affect how they behave? If their power were equal to everyone else's on the site and not just a co-admin, would they be less likely to ragequit/delete everything?

I was on a site with a staff with a similar concept, where the staff was equal except for the original three owners. And while we all had different titles, we all had equal say in site decisions and had to present our case to the other staff members, and the staff as a whole had to vote on every little thing.
It caused a lot of arguments, a lot of backlash, and a lot of head and heartaches. I don't believe an admin should be a dictator and almighty ruler, either, but I don't think it's a good idea to give just anyone a staff position or the right to have staff powers.

I get your point with that, and voting on everything does sound tedious. But if the original three creators were higher than everyone else, it's not a real communism, right?

If their power were equal to everyone else's on the site and not just a co-admin, would they be less likely to ragequit/delete everything? this is true, if a member is ignored they'll probably quit. but that kind of stuff just bothers me; as someone who has joined forums and been ignored, it isn't very fun and makes you feel crappy. and i don't wanna make anyone else feel like that even though i might have unintentionally because i'm a ninnyin an ideal world, yeah, it should be that way. but sometimes people get power hungry. what if the member everyone ignored because their character was disliked got so mad they deleted the site or a bunch of accounts or something? i'm not saying this would ever happen but it's a possibility. like i said, it would be interesting! i wouldn't want to be the site's "creator" in essence because i'm (admittedly) particular but as joining member, not founding member, it would be fun to try.

I don't know if real communism can even be a thing. Any country that's communist isn't even communist.
The original three creators were considered 'higher' but none of them were ever on the site any more. They just came along when we needed them. Other than that they didn't really assert their authority.
