I just want to say attack of the avatar I didn't really feel that the whole spirit thing at the end was "trippy." I thought it...made sense. Overall, I thought it was a great finale. It left me satisfied and contented though it was the last-minute type of thing. It was like the show was earning positive points while it went on, but it was making up for all the negative points it earned after all that. Finale was great but in hindsight, I still thought the storytelling that led to that sucks. I've always had faith in the creators though. I'm really just looking forward to book 3 for more Lin Beifong as we were promised.
Okay, there was one thing I didn't get though. Jinora.
And why is this in the anime section

it was super great very pleased i can't really think of anything to add besides that except
WHERE IS MY BOLIN DEVELOPMENT
a twelve year old got more character development than bolin got this entire season. there were bits and pieces of development for bolin but ultimately i feel he never progressed as a character and was just there to be comic relief. i'm incredibly upset and bitter over this and also over eska. eska existed solely for the sake of bolin. she had the potential to have great development but no. her character revolved around bolin and since bolin doesn't get development, eska didn't either.
i did love korra and i am so glad to see her grow up and stop acting like an unlikable brat. praise iroh. they did super well with her at the end of the season.

In no particular order 1. I liked Korra with her hair down 2. About TIME Bolin got to do something awesome, even if he didn't change at all. Babysteps I guess 3. Watching Korra's past lives get blown to golden bits was painful to watch coughaangcoughwancough. Does this mean we'll never get to see any of them again!? D: 4. The music. The bending. The animation. Holy crap, where would we be without Studio Mir.5. Twins recovered surprisingly well from their father's death considering how loyal they were moments previously and Desna's little outburst in the tent 6. Twins were pretty static, but their lines were amusing xD 7. Good grief Makorra's finally gone for good, and may the writers stop focusing on the romance in next two books. There's been a trend of all the episodes without it being so much better 8. Way to brush off Asami. She just kinda disappeared 9. Still not too satisfied with Unalaq's background, or lack thereof. 10. I like how Raava got big again. She(?)'s been so tiny recently And the only questions I have 1. HOW DID KORRA BECOME A COSMIC SPIRIT GIANT??!? I thought the whole cosmic energy thing was only cause of the avatar spirit, aka Raava. If it was the energy bending like how lion turtles said, I thought only lion turtles and the avatar could do it, and the latter only because of said spirit. 2. How could Korra still bend water in giant spirit form 3. Jinora. how 4. Why did Aang look so old in the fog with Tenzin, but still seemed so young as an Avatar past life? 5. So much for "we are bonded forever." What happened to the forever and finally 6. When's that Book 3 coming out

My theory about Ginora is that she has some sort of connection with Aang's spirit, so that she could help Korra in the future. That's why she could see all of the spirits and guide Korra through the Spirit World.
Oh I thought the spirit stuff was very weird, mostly just the cosmic energy stuff. Fur shur.
The only downfall of the show was that they didn't know they would have multiple seasons to develop the characters - I felt the romance was unnecessary and really didn't understand Korra falling for Mako in the first place, she doesn't seem like the "fall-for" type. I could've seen Mako falling for Korra and Korra maybe going the other way later. The romance felt forced throughout the entire series, between all of the characters. What with the end of the world plot and all, romance seemed a little out of place. That's the only thing that truly bothered me other than the lack of character development was the romance.
And I mean you can't blame that all on them, since they did think they only had one, maybe two seasons so they wanted to put in as much as they could but akdjghdfkjlg. I'm really excited for book three, since this is a whole new thing entirely.
ALSO WHEN VAATU DESTROYED ALL OF THE PAST AVATARS I LITERALLY CRIED OKAY LIKE WOWOWOWOW THAT PART PHYSICALLY HURT. MY HEART CRIED OUT FOR EVERYONE. ESPECIALLY WAN. BECAUSE WAN IS SO AWESOME LIKE SERIOUSLY.

But they knew they were going to have more seasons. Even when they announced a Book 2, they said there would also be a 3 and 4. From what I hear, they started work on Book 3 even as they were doing 2, too, so I dunno. Speaking of romance: Bolin and Eska. Where did that come from

In no particular order 5. Twins recovered surprisingly well from their father's death considering how loyal they were moments previously and Desna's little outburst in the tent 8. Way to brush off Asami. She just kinda disappeared

So much for "we are bonded forever." What happened to the forever and finally
5. i think it was subtle but you could see their believe waver after the little mishap with opening the north pole. their whole lives revolved around their father so even if they did start doubting him they were hesitant to let go. that out burst was them trying to hold onto what their whole life revolved around. also bolin's seemingly sincere despair about the end of the world might have helped. 8. yaya asami got shafted. i mean i guess it makes sense since the end of the world takes precedence over it. at least they didn't make the romance such a big deal this season.
1. the cosmic power is affiliated with chakras which may or may not be an avatar thing only. iirc aang was trying to master it in order to use the avatar state at will. naturally, he couldn't actively control the avatar state beforehand which means it probably isn't necessary. the reason he failed was because he chose earthly possessions (his love katara) over cosmic energy. with the help of the tree of life i think korra had an easier time opening her chakras. also the end of the world pretty much triumphs any other "earthly attachments" which makes it easier. 2. if korra wasn't an avatar she'd be a water bender by nature. water was the next in the cycle. 3. the whole deus ex machina really annoyed me this season. avatar had always been very good at closing most loop holes and leaving things unanswered. the only big things i can remember was the lion turtle teaching aang how to energy bend and zuko's mom. the creators purposely left the zuko mother point open to follow up with the book (which probably wouldn't be good for airing). the energy bending situation was implied through avatar wan's story. 4. the vision tenzin saw was probably what aang looked like before he died (remember aang lost years of his life being frozen in the iceburg). the state of the avatar that korra/aang see are the time periods that best define them (theory). aang would be the creation of republic city. avatar kiyoshi lived to be passed 200 but her biggest achievement was killing chin the conqueror. 5. i don't think raava expected all this to happen. she only mentioned it to wan to give him the peace of mind with his passing. it was more of a "d/w about it wan, i'll reincarnate with you next lives to help you continue your mission of bringing balance to the world."
all in all this finale was great but that's what's expected from avatar. i just feel like this finale was more focused on showing epic moments and choreography than giving us a good, firm closure on the story. we'll see if they address some of the open ends next season but idk.

Maybe. But if that was the case, what's to stop every other bender from doing the same thing? Tenzin (or any of the others, though Tenzin's the most meditative) could have meditated in the tree, turned giant, and went to help if it was just a matter of chakras 2. It wasn't really what element she was bending that bugged me (she could still air bend, too; she used it to follow Tenzin into the tree), so much as how she could bend at all while in Blue Giant form. In the previous episodes, they've made it a point of stressing that you have to have a physical body in order to bend, hence why Korra/Jinora got creamed so easily when they crossed over only spiritually. I'd just assumed that the "cosmic form" was still just her spirit, since Vaatulaq was able to do that spiritual ritual thing on her.
5. I dunno. Even if she hadn't expected for it to happen, I didn't think it was a matter of reincarnating together just because she wanted to. It wasn't even a choice, they'd been spiritually fused together. Kinda like how Unalaq died when Vaatu got purified because they were already bonded from touching the harmonic convergence energy beams. What I'd meant was, considering all that, it didn't make sense to me how they made it seem so easy to just pull Raava out.
I like your sig btw; basically what the finale turned into lol

1. l0l there was a reason that a hippy guru had to teach aang. i think more than a handful of people could reach that state but none of them were capable at that moment in time. korra would be the closest due to her affinity with balance thanks to excessive use of the avatar state. 2. idk i have to rewatch l0l. when did she water bend while in giant form? in republic city?
5. that's only because it's vaatu. i'm sure if they were on equal footing then raava might have been able to do the same.
u should c the movie then. pacific rim was beastttt.

From what I hear, they started work on Book 3 even as they were doing 2, too, so I dunno. If the source I read was right, they ordered book 2 after the success of book 1. Then, when book 2 was done, they ordered both book 3 and book 4. The creators created book 1 and book 2 as a stand alone season, hence why there's really no connection between the current books that bind them unlike in A:TLA where everything develops as a whole. That's why I'm more psyched for the next season because I know the pacing would definitely be better now.
