Society never wanted me to make it. So I guess the gravity, I guess the gravity ain’t the only thing thats been holding me down lately. But I don’t hate you. Matter of fact, I don’t even despise you. I think I love you more than I can love half of my ignorant brothers. And I know. I know my brothers ain’t as merciful, but you gotta understand its kind of hard teaching high school boys that whips and chains and whips and chains are symetrical. So from the bottom of my heart, I am sorry that we are the way we are. But you gotta understand, some motherfuckers told us a change was gonna come. And I am just so tired of waiting.

“But they’ve learned this lesson just in time for it to be hopelessly wrong—for we humans do, when the cause is sufficient, spend our own lives. We throw ourselves onto the grenade to save our buddies in the foxhole. We rise out of the trenches and charge the entrenched enemy and die like maggots under a blowtorch. We strap bombs on our bodies and blow ourselves up in the midst of our enemies. We are, when the cause is sufficient, insane.” Orson Scott Card, Ender's Shadow
"...But when it comes to human beings, the only type of cause that matters is final cause, the purpose. What a person had in mind. Once you understand what people really want, you can't hate them anymore. You can fear them, but you can't hate them, because you can always find the same desires in your own heart." Orson Scoot Card, Speaker of the Dead

“It is not seen as insane when a fighter, under an attack that will inevitably lead to his death, chooses to take his own life first. In fact, this act has been encouraged for centuries, and is accepted even now as an honorable reason to do the deed. How is it any different when you are under attack by your own mind?”
- Emilie Autumn
When I was down at a art program, I made expressive text spreads with this quote.

"One only understands the things that one tames," said the fox. "Men have no more time to understand anything. They buy things all ready made at the shops. But there is no shop anywhere one can buy friendship, and so men have no friends any more. If you want a friend, tame me...."
"What must I do, to tame you?" asked the little prince.
"You must be very patient," replied the fox. "First you will sit down at a little distance from me -like that- in the grass. I shall look at you out of the corner of my eye, and you will say nothing. Words are the source of misunderstandings...." -the little prince

ahhh hell yeah. i love quotes.
People love others not for who they are but for how they make them feel.
- (Irwin Federman)
I was never really insane except upon occasions when my heart was touched.
- (Edgar Allan Poe)
Those wars are unjust which are undertaken without provocation. For only a war waged for revenge or defense can be just.
- (Marcus Tullius Cicero)
Out of clutter, find simplicity. From discord, find harmony. In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.
- (Albert Einstein)
When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.
- (Lao Tzu)
I think... if it is true that there are as many minds as there are heads, then there are as many kinds of love as there are hearts.
- (Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina)

"A glorious hero defeats an evil King...the people will talk and sing about your heroic rise to fame and forget the horrors and the sins of war...the defeated soldiers will feel comforted by the fact that they were defeated by a hero, and deceived by an evil king..."
-Jowy Atreides (Suikoden 2)
If you know on what context Jowy is speaking, you have no idea how depressing this is.

(In general, zen pencils is just an excellent site that blends together comics and inspirational quotes. I haven't gone through them all yet, but so far these two quotes by Alan Watts and Neil Gaiman respectively have to be some of my favorites! Those comics were a bit too long to post here though, ehe.)

“The best fantasy is written in the language of dreams. It is alive as dreams are alive, more real than real ... for a moment at least ... that long magic moment before we wake.
Fantasy is silver and scarlet, indigo and azure, obsidian veined with gold and lapis lazuli. Reality is plywood and plastic, done up in mud brown and olive drab. Fantasy tastes of habaneros and honey, cinnamon and cloves, rare red meat and wines as sweet as summer. Reality is beans and tofu, and ashes at the end. Reality is the strip malls of Burbank, the smokestacks of Cleveland, a parking garage in Newark. Fantasy is the towers of Minas Tirith, the ancient stones of Gormenghast, the halls of Camelot. Fantasy flies on the wings of Icarus, reality on Southwest Airlines. Why do our dreams become so much smaller when they finally come true?
We read fantasy to find the colors again, I think. To taste strong spices and hear the songs the sirens sang. There is something old and true in fantasy that speaks to something deep within us, to the child who dreamt that one day he would hunt the forests of the night, and feast beneath the hollow hills, and find a love to last forever somewhere south of Oz and north of Shangri-La.
They can keep their heaven. When I die, I'd sooner go to middle Earth.” -george rr martin

"It may help to understand human affairs to be clear that most of the great triumphs and tragedies of history are caused, not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally bad, but by people being fundamentally people.” -- From Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, possibly two of the most brilliant men I have ever read.
