yeah honestly gimmick i think the word "gang" was throwing me off. fraternity/sorority is good. although i enjoy the idea of students being able to make them...i think that's potentially....dangerous lol. i think it's really necessary to have main houses, or else things would be very disorganized and houses/gangs/whatever u want to call em would have very few members. the sororities might work better as other categories, ie sororities and etc live together, look out for each other and etc. also gimmick, what i mean by college town sucking up the nyc factor is that: the school should be a part of the site. a big part, of course, but i feel like making a whole college town around it would make it the whole site's base. the "college town" imo is better as a sixth borough- just as you described it: a diagon alley-like place. beekeeper that is probably my favorite paragraph to come out of this thread. it's a big city. nothing should be central besides "a city." it has a school and a hidden town and magical places, but none of these things are the main factor. they come together to make a really cool site with multiple, developed factors.

What I'm wondering about is what type of day-today life your average wizard would lead. Hardcore adventures like riding a dragon to find a super-secret prophecy or would they have a 9-to-5 office job at some magical corporation?
Also, could the gangs be an informal thing created by the students themselves without any official school involvement? It could be a school 'tradition'.
Also, how would magical creature come into play here? Veelas working at your local stripper club? Would other species be available to play?

Also, could the gangs be an informal thing created by the students themselves without any official school involvement? It could be a school 'tradition'. That's kinda what I meant this whole time, so it wouldn't be as set in stone as official school sorting. To prevent there being an unproportional number of gang/s&fs vs students you just could just have the site start with a few ones and open up a few slots for member creation after there are already a lot of members and only if a certain minimum of other people agree to be part of it. Also, how would magical creature come into play here? Veelas working at your local stripper club? Would other species be available to play? I'd imagine they'll just be undercover for the most part unless they're in the scattered wizard areas? Or not so undercover; it could create some interesting conflicts with wizards trying to keep the supernatural magic stuff secret. I think the only hard humanoid specie that would be hard to fit in is a centaur that is probably my favorite paragraph to come out of this thread. it's a big city. nothing should be central besides "a city." it has a school and a hidden town and magical places, but none of these things are the main factor. they come together to make a really cool site with multiple, developed factors. Is the day school still going to floating in the sky or will it also be scattered around?
