ALRIGHT GUYS. My Okami RP is coming to fruition very nicely, I am just waiting for a skin mostly. So since I have some time, and I expect my Okami RP is going to be pretty lax and not very difficult to manage, I'll put some energy into bringing about my old Crystal Chronicles RP! I had one in development last year, but initially scrapped the idea because v5 was coming and I was still very unaware and unsure of how v5 would be. Now that I have a very good grasp on v5 and actually enjoy it a lot, I'll bring this project back! plot The site will be based off of the first Crystal Chronicles game (because it is the only one I have played) but I am willing to pull elements from the other games if someone explains them to me and things. The basic premise is the miasma threatens the land and so each settlement sends out a caravan with a Crystal Chalice to gain Myrrh drops and purify their large hometown crystal. Pretty simple premise, and things can change and grow as more characters come on board. There may be town raids where ANYONE can get involved, natural disasters, monster attacks, and dungeon raiding, material gathering! All that fun stuff! setting I had originally wanted to go with the areas from the game, but I think creating an original setting would be worthwhile. It'd feel less like a rip-off and be more unique IMO. I suck with coming up with names for things though, so if anyone would like to help, that'd be mucho appreciated. I usually get inspired by the images I find on Zerochan's "scenery" tag. ♥ combat system There are two ways I could go with this, and I'm fine with either. The first is a stat-based system, though most might find these daunting. I'd try to make it as simple as possible. For instance, a player's life is denoted with "hearts" much like they are in the games. Players and Enemies have "STR" which tells how many "hearts" they'll take away per attack. Having armor will increase "DEF" which, depending on how much DEF it gives, will take away "STR" from the enemy. Let's say your character has 3 HP and 1 DEF, and is fighting a monster with 2 STR. Without that armor, it would take away 2 hearts, but because you have 1 DEF, it only takes away 1. 2-1=1. It seems simple enough to me, but I'm used to .hack RPs and the like. What this kind of system would include would be the prospect of "Material Quests" where you could raid a dungeon to simply gather ingredients/materials for crafting new weapons, armor and even abilities. At the end of dungeons and potentially any sort of combat, characters can choose a number of Artifacts to up their abilities and stats, much like in the games! - OR- The second type of system is a stat-less system which will pretty much be based on the honor system. It makes gathering materials and gaining new weapons a bit weird, since they won't have set increments for them, but it's still doable if you just want it for the development of your character. This system requires using your head and writing skills to convey what you want out of a battle. Obviously, stupid decisions will garner dangerous results. If your character rushes into battle unarmed against a boss, they're definitely not going to do well. As for how, or even if, armors, weapons, etc will be implemented, this is open to discussion. Are they going to be rendered useless if a super simple system is in place? One thing I'd like to keep for either system is a Magic System. Magic abilities are fun overall, and they can be doable no matter which type of system is implemented. There can be some generic ones (like fira, watera, etc) as well as the potential for members to make their own! In the games, there were a certain number of "slots" a player could have to put any sort of item in it that they wanted. Should this kind of thing be implemented? Or once a character gains a certain Magicite or Artifact, they get to keep it and use it whenever they want? characters + caravans This is potentially the hardest system that I will have to come up with. I absolutely love the idea of caravans. It is so true to the Crystal Chronicles franchise. The only thing I'm worried about is when people fall inactive, and what about those who want to create their own caravan? What I had in mind was to create a few "default" caravans that people could join, and maybe in the app somewhere, they could put a preference as to which caravan they join, or if they leave it "open" or something then I'll randomly assign them a caravan. By doing things this way, it will create immediate connections for characters and get people to roleplay with others that they might not have roleplayed with otherwise. It will make people work together (or maybe not, maybe their character is a butt!) and maybe bring us closer as a community. Now, I understand that some people might want to make a caravan with a friend or two, so down the line, they can have the chance to "purchase" a caravan from the shop. It won't be easy to get a caravan of your own, since I want to know someone is dedicated to it and not make one and then fall off of the map right after. The only thing is, how big should caravans be and how many should I make at the start? More can always be made, but starting off with a certain amount might be a good idea. Not too many that it seems impossible to fill up the slots, but not too little so that people can have a little bit of freedom. Another issue I was thinking about was... How would they move and progress? I could create a time system or season system, and so a caravan can start out in a certain area in let's say, YEAR 1 - SPRING and people within that caravan will have a certain amount of time until the season changes and the caravan moves? Each season would be 3 OOC months, maybe, or is that too long? I definitely know I want something like this since time played a major factor in the games. If there is no feel of the passage of time, I feel like everyone would just be anywhere and the use of caravans might not seem so important. staff positions To be honest, this is what I was looking forward to the most when I was creating the site last time! - MOOGLE MODS!
What they are, essentially, are dungeon masters! Each Caravan will be assigned a Moogle to control the dungeon raids and interact with the members of the caravan. They will be responsible for awarding the members of their caravan at the end of battles and missions. The Moogle itself can be an actual character, so you can RP with people too! They will essentially be mods, but will be in charge of the battle stuffs and the like. Can be any member of the staff team. So if let's say, I have a co-admin, they could also create a Moogle DM. Or someone could just be a Moogle DM and not any other type of staff. - SHOP MODS
They will help create new items to add to the shop, as well as take care of the purchases and take away Gold (if for some reason I do not use the Shop system from the Monetary Plugin). - AD MODS
I'll admit, I absolutely dread advertising and after the adrenaline spurt of a grand-opening promo, I admit I don't do it like I should. So these people who advertise for me will be greatly loved, and I'll even offer a lot of goodies for those who consistently advertise for me! xDD Mmm oh jeez. That was a huge splurt of information. But like I said before, I did have this site almost finished, I just need to polish it up and I'd greatly appreciate feedback! Then this site will be up before you know it! Crystal Bearers didn't even have that. The closest they had was that the enemy areas were Miasma Streams you had to close after beating all the enemies and they didn't really explain it all that well.

Oh... Crystal Bearers sounds weird then. D; But hm. I'll be sure to make some lore threads to explain the story of Crystal Chronicles for members to understand the setting and premise, then. ^^

The plot is simple and gives the perfect leeway for something more dastardly to happen. Those are the type of site plots I enjoy, especially when the members get involved and turn it into something amazing.
An AU or "canon" setting works perfectly fine, to be completely honest. However, I'm way to creativity to favor "canon" over original. I could think of a world and add a plethora of landmarks, dungeons, ect. Just thinking about, some type of petrified forest with gargantuan dragon skeletons and bones would be illmatic.
To expand on this setting thing,
If you did decide to go AU/Original I suggest kingdoms of some sort. Three or four with royals, elite guard, armies, ect. These kingdoms could be all political, high-and-mighty, and elite. While the little villages located throughout the map fight day in and out for survival. This could bring some bitterness towards certain characters while adding a small hint of territory wars to the site. Again, just a suggestion.
Combat systems,
Honor system all the way. Stats just feel way to restrictive and if I wanted to deal with stats and grinding, I'd just pop in any jrpg and get my fix that way. However, I understand and respect the choice for stats in this instance. When it comes to boss fights controlled by a member of staff, it just makes things neat and organized. But coming from an PvP perspective, it just becomes the ultimate grind-fest. Can there be some kind of middle-ground? Stats for staff directed threads while stat-less everywhere else? I'm cool with either or, stats in general just puts a rank taste in my mouth.
The magic system is cool, but I'm all about character customization. The option to make your own spells and abilities is the perfect way to set your character apart from another. Not talking about actual damage or anything, but the actual moves, history behind the move, ect. But for the magic system, why not make them Tier-esque?
Something like,
Fire - Tier 1 Fira - Tier 2 Firaga - Tier 3
And so on and so fourth. If you go about it this way, you could even give a vague description of what each Tier of spell could do under any given circumstance. Example: "Fire - User is capable of conjuring and controlling flames and fires of small qualities." And with that snippet of information, the member could base their abilities or techniques off it. Essentially it gives customization in terms of how to go about using the spell with everything else around being determined. Could do that with just about every spell added and whatnot.
As far as the "slots" go, it's really hit or miss with me. I remember you were able to eventually forge your own stones to keep forever. I'm cool either way, to be honest. But this sounds like something you would need to use Random Number Generator with.
Caravans,
Straight up, I had full intentions on doing my own thing when it came to collecting the Myrrh and where it went. The character I had in mind wouldn't be bound to one village or kingdom; he'd go where the loot was bountiful. That being said, do you really want a bunch of solo collectors running around? I mean, you could do it in the game, but what's the point? I think each Caravan should be a team of three people. Making default Caravans could work too, give them generic names n' shit; whatever works, right? The more dynamic the squad, the better, in my opinion.
Time,
Alright, so. What I came up with is this: one successful Myrrh collection equals 25% of the year. That means, 4 successful Myrrh collections equals the year passing. To make things interesting, the first kingdom or village to collect these 4 drops will be the ones to advance the year forward. In other words, if one village or kingdom is more active than the others, they could potential fuck over the other village or kingdoms. I'm not opposed to this system because it adds a layer of desperation to an already desperate situation. To make things fair, the Caravan that collected the first drop won't be allowed to go for another for... Lets say two weeks. This gives the other members of the site chance to play the role and actually have an impact, ya' kno'? Also, if threading all over the place in different times is your concern, the easiest way to get rid of that is by using the journal system the game had... That and limited the number of threads one person can be in at any giving time. I feel you though, no point in having a sense of time if people won't follow it.
I WILL MOGGLE MOD THE FUCK OUT OF THIS. MY NARRATION WILL BE ON POINT AND PEOPLE WILL LOVE IT.
Also, I have a lot more information I'm willing to explain if you're looking for more input. I'm willing to help anyway I can because this shit could be so live if the right amount of passion is thrown behind it.

I don't really have much to suggest, if at all, but just to express further interest in this. I know I kinda fell off the grid on your last project, middy♥, but I'd be willing to help out again here as a Moogle or Shop Mod, whichever you need c:
For my opinion(s), I agree with Season for a honor system of the combat type or more of a middle ground between the two. I'm an avid fan of the T1 fighting style, so stat-less is usually how I roll. Though, I also like stats too or something to define a character's power and ability. In terms of Season's tiers of the magic system, could expand on that for weapons/armor/accessories too, as in the higher the Tier, the better quality of the object and so on.
I also support the more original location/setting.

Are you bringing your want for political intrigue into this site? xD I don't know if that is something I'll do. It's not really in my interests, tbh. I've done something like this before and ICly, all the areas got destroyed and people were wrecking the site and... >>; Haha. While I do like the idea, there's a lot more planning to be had with this. Maybe one kingdom will work but warring kingdoms I'm not so sure about.
That is exactly what I had in mind with magic anyway. Tiered magic and a bit of leeway for customization; but also I'll allow custom slots as rewards so that any sort of magic can be made instead of just the typical "shoots fireballs" or something.
If I am to do a simple system, in my mind it would be hard to implement a stat system just for staff battles. How do we allot hearts and magic points since we're not giving them out normally? Then again, it wouldn't be final fantasy without HP so I might have hearts be a thing, but they are only usable in boss battles. IDK. The combat system still confuses me. I'll try to do a middle-ground like I had thought.
The thing about myrrh collecting is that it requires a team. I don't mind a rogue person every once in a while, and maybe they band together with a caravan sometimes to help, but with just one person, not much will get accomplished. Three people per caravan sounds okay, I may up to four or five, depending on how large the site gets.
The journal system sounds like a great idea! And having friendly competition between the caravans about who can collect four drops of myrrh first sounds great. I could allot a specific time of the month for people to start a quest to obtain it, and caravans can only get myrrh in that specific time. If they don't, they forfeit that drop of myrrh and will have to wait until the next month... Four drops for the IC year sounds fine. :3
