What sites do you remember that are still fond to your heart, even if they are hella old?
I remember a site called "THE SMILE COMPANY" or something that like. It was a Dystopian political based site. Reminded me of V for Vendetta on steroids. Awesome site. It was short lived but amazing. Don't remember who owned it / ran it. Probably came out in 2010 - 2009 ish I think.

A Yu-Gi-Oh site called Shadow Realm GX. We were based in Duel Academy, and this was back in... I think it finally closed down in 2009 but I joined in 2005. We were basically a giant sandbox, with minimal profile and post requirements, and the freedom to make up the plots. By the end of it we had Items for the Earth, Spirit and Shadow Realms, Shadow Duelists, and a type of duelist called the Abyss Duelist, whose power was strong enough to destroy the other three realms and were our major threat. The last major plot we had, duel spirits became real and attacked Duel Academy in retribution for all the ways we screwed with their realm IC. I also remember a thread of mine, where I was playing the human form of the boundary between realms, and my character got pissed off and Shadow Dueled an Abyss Duelist. For dramatic flair I said it was happening during a thunderstorm, and someone else who was paying attention turned it into a typhoon and made several threads in response that were not only doing rescues but also relief aid.
I made several friends that likely some of you have met, as they're still in the community. We know each other by name, have met each other IRL and keep each other in contact via Facebook, Tumblr and Skype. I even met my fiancé on the site, and know two other couples who are engaged as well because of the site.
It's not likely to be an experience I'll ever forget and I've only recreated it once.

My favorite RP site ever was actually a RL FC site from way back when. I'm pretty sure my character was named Siobhan M. Flynn, and her face claim was Saoirse Ronan (who is the best face claim). It was a demi-god site, and all of these god-children were gathering up in some city--maybe New York, but I can't remember--because of mysterious forces. Siobhan was a character on the canon list, a normal human from Northern Ireland. Her parents died on a cruise ship and, after staying with friendly neighbors for a few weeks, she moved to New York with her only living relative, her Uncle, who was British (I think) and lived in New York. He was a demi-god, a child of whichever god gave a bunch of intelligence, maybe Hermes. His fc was David Tennant. Her uncle's best friend was a demi-god of Ares and owned his own bar, and the two of them acted as sort of surrogate parents to my character, and it was really fun. I've always wanted to be able to play either that plot or one similar to it again. I really miss it, and it didn't get to last as long as I'd've liked.
