Considering I've been wishy-washy with roleplaying recently, this idea has been stuck with me for several weeks now, so I guess I might as well do an interest check.
I'd be really interested in a roleplay where /all/ of the characters are based off fairy tales. (no Disney, legit fairy tales) I'd allow genderbending and stuff, basically huge variation in how you create your character as long as you stick roughly with their story. It'd be set in modern times, especially in a city like New York, but in an imaginary place and probably one single kingdom.
Every fairy tale character is set to have a specified destiny, such as Cinderella falling in love with a "Prince Charming" (while he might actually not be a prince). This balance is set in place by the royal family of the time, who's mere "Author Authority"-like powers (ability to write what fate others have) keep control of the kingdom and the fairy tales. However, one day, a mysterious outlier that they forgot to write about comes in and burns all the "books", otherwise prewritten histories of everyone in the kingdom, ever, which have been passed down and continued for generations.
With this, everyone's prewritten destinies are now shattered, allowing the outlier to take over.
What this means is that the fairy tales will mix together, causing a rather unique story to happen in a modernized world.
I want to know if people would be interested in a slice-of-life version of this or if they would be interested in a very fantasy-like one, protagonists vs antagonists along with all the characters in between. I also want to know if you all would even be interested in this concept?
Either way, input is greatly appreciated.

*Detection: Fairy Tale Story Plot! Detection: Fairy Tale Story Plot!*
Oh! Oh! Anything is possible, like the genderbend you suggested? *eye sparkle*
So the Author Authority, could there be events with random chosen characters/stories that the authors try and place the fairy tales back in order? Say the RNG gets Cinderella story, and the event requires Cinderella scenario? The Cinderella scenario requiring a site ball with all citizens invited, and a chosen character to love the chosen other character must have a nice outfit with glass shoes. Then the Author family tries and convinces the two chosen characters to at least talk to each other, extra points for getting them to dance. Just an attempt on the family trying to put the fairy tales back together.
Uhh sounds like fun, I'm interested and will be lurking. -because I have no life-
Just an open sandbox RP that let's the Rpiers decide characters fate, with those Author family trying to bring order to it all. *eye sparkle* maybe somebody will start a gang, or oh maybe a harem! with females arguing over boob sizes. -ignore me-

You took the stereotypical fairy tale rp and gave it an awesome twist - I don't think I've ever seen a rp similar and I like Ginger's scenario ideas - maybe it's not even like, 1 person it could be a few people because the "author authority" forgot who was supposed to be in it so he's hoping by chance that he picks the right one - so he picks a few higher class ladies and men in hopes that it is Cinderella + The Prince. And for everyone else it could just be a big ball, so you have your plot and your sandbox rolled into one. But yeh, I agree with keeping it Sandbox. You would have to drive it with events and such though. But I haven't seen any fairy tale rps lately so you probably won't have a lot, if any, to compete with. ^^ G'luck I will lurk the shit out of this board.

Thank you so much for the suggestions and advice - I really like the event idea with the Author Authority person trying to put the fairy tales back together, but it doesn't always work. I don't really have much else to add besides the fact that the site should be up in a rough draft by next week. I'm typing it now, thanks for the advice~
