Ayyy yoyoyoooo. (Don't ask. I'm in a good mood.)
SO LIKE. I have been hankering for a Ghibli RP and also like a bajillion other sorts of RPs like a Crystal Chronicles/caravan RP and I am ALWAYS down for a Zelda RP. So I thought... Why not try to take the elements I love so much about those and make it into one RP?
The beautiful setting and imagery from Ghibli.
The exploration/adventure of LoZ.
The ability to work together or tear each other apart with Crystal Chronicles.
Here's my idea.[Unnamed Landscape] has existed for hundreds of years. It started off uninhabitable, with deserts and raging sandstorms and huge beasts that could kill you in an instant. But the humans needed a place to go. Taking pity on these lost travelers, a Trio of Spirits/Deities came together to make the land more inhabitable. There was one for the Sky (gorgeous bird creature like Howl), Sea (a fatherly sea dragon like Haku), and Earth (mystical forest guardian like the forest spirit).
As the human population grew, so too did a need to expand. Groups sought out better lands and resources. One group that branched off came upon a mystical item that awakened from deep within them some mystical powers. These people would become the Magi, a group of witches and warlocks who eventually wrought havoc in the lands. But the ordinary humans were robust, adaptable. Soon the Magi fell in number because of their carelessness and now they are either in hiding due to shame, or live normal lives, using their magic for menial tasks.
For centuries, technology has advanced. It is not uncommon to see dirigibles or even simple airplanes streak across the sky. Most technology is steam powered, and there are a few railroad tracks that connect a few of the larger cities together. But things like horse-drawn carriages and bicycles are still common. Automobiles are very rare and very rudimentary.
Life has been comfortable for everyone. The great cities are flourishing and the smaller villages are being left alone like they want. But there are always a few who need more. Pirates have taken to the skies and sea to search for treasures. Rumors of the ancient City in the Sky are spreading like wildfire, and many are trying to gather the clues to find it. The world is becoming an increasingly dangerous place, and what's more is there are strange creatures appearing...
TBH, I just typed that up on the fly as I am making this thread. My plot is not set in stone, and those are only ideas put into a coherent block of text. Anything and everything can be discussed, but I do want to keep the Ghibli aspects in there. The references to Ghibli will become more apparent as the plot progresses, but that's what I have so far.
Some other tidbits:
- I want to have a sort of "exploration" system where there will be plot events for a group of characters to go and explore a place that is not on the map yet. What will they discover? Who knows! On par with this, I also wanted to create a "quest" system in which my character will send people around to places to gather certain things, or to do a certain task for her. I dunno what rewards will be like, maybe just some IC fun time. I don't foresee having money or anything of the sort here.
- Combat. Ugh. So like, I do anticipate there being boss fights and random monsters showing up, but there will really and literally be no system at all for this. If you want your character to have a weapon, go for it. Put it in the "items" section of the bio. But no one is all powerful and no one is a weapons master. There really isn't a need for such a thing. General skills like hunting with a bow or sparring/fencing with rapiers/small swords isn't uncommon, but no one should be beastly with five million weapons. XD It will be based on the honor system should two characters get into a brawl wit each other.
This is really all I have for this site so far. I have left out some of the more obvious Ghibli aspects because I don't want to spoil too much for non-staff, but yeah. That's really what this thread is about, actually.
I'm looking for some people to help me flesh out my ideas, bounce ideas back and forth and generally help me build this site and it's lore. Basically, a co-admin!
If you just want to help me with ideas and offer your own, that is fine.
If you want to help out with the site after it's complete, that is fine too! I just need some help with everything overall, so any sort of help is appreciated.
(I also would super love having someone advertise for me when this is complete. I am so bad at advertising. D:)
