I'm getting ready to open up a new role-play but this idea has been going on inside my head.So currently I'm imagining a sort of scenario similar to The Last of Us? It would be a slice of life/survival/desperate romance kind of role-play. Here's the plot:- PHASE 00: APOCALYPSE - The year of 2010 was the last stable year in the entire world. At 7:24 PM, on January 15th, a virus broke out in North America but quickly spread through the other continents. Military services attempted to rescue many and protect its people but to no avail. As a last resort, on June 24th at 8:00 PM, all governments agreed to drop several sets of Atomic Bombs all around the world after securing a few safe zones in order to preserve human race. Only adult males, females and children were saved to lower the amount of resources needed for their survival. Resources would only last 121 years. - PHASE 01: NEW WORLD - The gates to the world opened again in 2100 due to lack of proper rationing. Several excursions were made to gather resources and information but only one group came back with only one piece of information and no resources. The Infected were still around but modified thanks to the radiation. Infected now had several categories to fit into.- PHASE 02: SAFE ZONES - A few Safe Zones and Headquarters were created in the following years to protect its people but many get Infected everyday to scavenge for resources and medication. It is now the year 2105, survivors don't know what is held in store for them in the future but they choose to live and make the best of everything they have.- - - - - That's what I have for now but it can be modified. There are no stats or anything like that in terms of combat but it should fit with the type of Infected people are up against. meaning you can't be making so much noise next to a Clicker and expect them to not hear you. I'm thinking of having a system for items and weapons but that's still a bit fuzzy, if anyone has any ideas please message me.- I'll also need a bit of help managing this so if anyone is interested please let me know!hopefully someone likes this idea...

GUYS PLZ TELL ME IF SOMETHING IS CONFUSING OR IF I SHOULD DELETE SOMETHING. I MAKE STUFF COMPLICATED FOR NO REASON SOMETIMES SO YEAH.
- TYPES OF INFECTED - - STALKER: These are newly Infected, their movements are slow but they do possess proper hearing and vision. They mostly target with their vision before attacking you but enough noise will direct them in your general location.
- RUNNER: One of the most feared out of all the Infected. They are similar to the Stalkers in terms of hearing and vision with one uncanny ability: Running, and fast. Targeting these without a proper weapon would be foolish as most could possibly outrun you so escaping would not be easy. Humans get tired, Infected do not.
- DRIBBLER: This kind was created thanks to the radioactivity around the parts. Their bodies are not radioactive, only their digestive tract and saliva. They tend to spit at just about anything. Their saliva is very toxic, contact with skin can be treated but only before 48 hours, amputation is the only option after that. Contact with eyes will cause immediate blindness.
- CLICKER: These are mostly identified by the mushroom looking head or its clicking. This Infected is blind but its hearing has been abnormally enhanced through the virus. They are much stronger than the Stalkers and Runners. Unless you are properly equipped, once they grab you it's all over.
- SCRABBLER: These are also new Infected however they lack the lower portion of their bodies, usually from the waist down however some may simply be missing from the knees down. They usually crawl using their arms and these cause one of the highest amount of Infected due to their uncanny ability to hide, attacking those least expecting it.
- BLOATER: As its name states, this Infected is bloated with spores. They are much slower than even a Stalker however they do possess decent eyesight. Bloaters are known for throwing spore bullets, about the size of a grenade. When hit, it releases a large amount of spores and radiation.
- BURSTER: These are the 'suiciders' of all the Infected. Their bodies are dribbling in toxic radiation. They are blind and deaf, the only time they burst is when touched by just about anything such as survivors or even other Infected. They release spores and chunks of meat soaked in toxic liquids.
- COMBAT/WEAPONS -
- When starting everyone is given a small knife and they have to work their way towards other weapons (Guns and such).
This is pretty liberal but how you want to deal with the Infected should fit with its description. Your character is human, there are no superhuman abilities. You can't outrun a Runner because it does not get tired, meanwhile you do. You are perfectly capable of running away far enough for you to hide and plan a counterattack though. You cannot manhandle a Clicker, it is much stronger than you. You are perfectly capable of running away, have it follow you to an open area when you can do something about it. Things like that should be considered when you're dealing with an Infected. I'm hoping this does not have any issues. - ITEMS/SUPPLIES/HEALTH -
I've yet to understand what I'm doing with Items and Supplies. Health I have an idea but it's not fleshed out yet. - QUESTS -
Yes, I am thinking about adding a sort of questing system. There are people around, they need help or supplies and are willing to name a price for it. Here's what I'm thinking: - People can make their own quests.
- People can make quests and leave them for others. I know some of y'all are pretty creative.
- You can make a random NPC give the quest or your own character can do so, feel free to plot with this thing guys!
- The quest is free form, do what it says and you get whatever the person agreed to give you.
- So this isn't a game of sorts like WOW or FFXIV, there shouldn't be any quests with something like "Kill 3 Clickers, 2 Bloaters and come back alive to get your reward."unless the person is suicidal, they won't/shouldn't accept this. You can however ask them to escort your character somewhere, or ask them to gather resources outside the SZ for you or set booby traps around the place etc..
- Staff members won't step in and correct any sort of reward unless it's too much for one quest. You can't ask someone to gather resources for you and in return you'll give them 10 Health Kits... 2 would do just fine for that. The task at hand should merit the reward given. If it's a long quest, then yeah big reward.
- GROUPS/LOCATIONS/PARTIES -
GROUPS: There are several SZ (Safe Zones) and a few HQ (Headquarters), relations between them are minimal if not completely sour. Resources are scarce, trust between SZs doesn't seem likely in the future. This does not mean that they will shoot you on sight or anything. Tensions are just high, it's advised to have someone escorting you or have urgent business but just waltzing in for no reason wouldn't be a good idea.
LOCATIONS: This is stationed in North America. There is an HQ in New York, Florida, North Carolina and Texas so those will be the areas available for RP. Naturally some young explorers could easily explore further West but for now, most of the population is in the East.
PARTIES: Each HQ belongs to a specific party, some have different ideals than others. Don't think that the ideals have to shape your character! You can be friendly to other HQs and still be a porcupine! That's just how the party's morals are generally. The HQ looks over a set of SZs, not physically but as a sort of government in a way.
- PORCUPINES: This HQ is located in Texas and they are not too friendly when it comes to visitors. Anyone with no business attempting to take refuge will be refused, limited resources after all. Their advancements are not shared, for all the other HQs know, they could have a vaccine and no one would find out. They have one of the best barricades out of all the HQs. They have 5 SZs, one in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin and El Paso.
- HOUNDS: This HQ is located in New York, this party is vicious and tend to go after other HQs. There is a certain portion of this party that adheres to common morals however the other portion consists of bandits. While there may be other bandit associations, this is the biggest and most organized. If you're a Hound you can either be Docile (Common Partisan) or Vicious (Bandit). They have 5 SZs, one in Queens, Albany, Hamilton, Saratoga and Saint Lawrence.
- EAGLES: This HQ is located in Florida, this party mostly consists of scavengers. They aren't exactly the friendliest but they aren't as bad as the Porcupines. Eagles are very organized in terms of scavenging. There are 5 SZs, one in Tampa, Miami, Tallahassee, Jacksonville and Sarasota.
- CHIMERAS: This HQ is located in North Carolina and they pride themselves in their technology/research. While other HQs are working on surviving and making the most out of the situation, Chimeras are interested in coming up with a cure. There are 2 SZs, one in Charlotte and Greensboro.

just throwing something off the top of my head quickly here. if you plan on making a scenario similar to TLOU, why not make a weapon/item system similar to it as well? like scavenging for materials & then using them to create items/weapons. idk how well that'd be played out in reality, but it's just a quick thought.
i don't think i can help manage sorry, but i do like the idea!

Yeah I thought about that as well but I don't know how to do that without making it very regulated... unless it wouldn't be minded. I know how frustrating super strict regulations are, it depends on the public on this one ^~^

Hiya!
1. I would take Bloater off the infected list. It seems like the infected are supposed to be primitive, not very bright? I mean, if a virus was eating away at your body, you probably wouldn't have it all together either. I think Bursters cover Bloaters (a one or the other sort of thing). The Bloater's purpose only seems to be to throw stuff, y'know? They probably won't be the most popular, albeit inconvenient. However, with your list of other infected, I think it's safe to remove Bloaters if you aren't too attached.
2. Some people love the progression with weapons and upgrades, others hate it. You really have to make it work like a game if you want to use it though, which imposes a ton of restrictions. I know free for alls kinda suck sometimes, but imo if you let people start with a weapon of choice you'll get a lot more attention site-wise. You have to keep your audience interested. Of course you can always make upgrades available, BUT allow the person to at least start with a weapon of choice (think machete, gun/rifle, axe, etc.). Upgrades can include things out of the ordinary (stun stuff, poison gas, exotic additions to weapons etc.) And keep in mind that things will/should be broken and/or lost! Players will probably need new weapons along the line if they aren't god modding. I hate to put things into such static terms, but if it's easier, maybe defeating a certain amount of infected decreases weapon stability or ammo? Up to you really, I'm babbling :'3
3. Items can include anything from ammo to weapon additions to health packs (you buy 1 basic healthpack, you restore x amount of life for x amount of damage taken. larger health packs can be purchased for larger injuries, ie, amputation pack). If you want it to be like a game, make it so 3 hits from an infected (3 scratches or w/e) makes you lose x amount of life? Idk :c
4. Quests r good ppl like missions.
5. Didn't read all but I like the idea from skimming. Might get back to it later!

1. Cool, I wasn't that attached to begin with anyway pfft. I guess it was a bit repetitive with both the Bloaters and Bursters lol.
2. Yeah everyone gets to start the RP with whatever choice of weapon they want. I'll let people decide whether they miss or not unless this becomes an issue later on aka you're behind a wall, bullet goes through said wall and makes a headshot on a clicker lol
Items I'm wondering if we could have a sort of random generator or some sort of random dice thing? From 1 - 100
and 1-15 gets you this item 16 - 31 gets you another item and so forth? Keeps the load off of staff members. If people want something specific then missions are the way to go. I dunno, what do you think? or anyone else that's following this thread
3. Healths, so far from what I've thought up, will be in bars. Certain Infected attacks take away a set amount of bars. I like your idea of advanced Medical Kits, I'll add that into the earlier post.
Medical Kit: Restores 4 bars of health Medical Kit+ : Restores 10 bars of health Adv. Medical Kit: Restores all of your health Amputation Kit: Not sure if this should be a "when you get bitten you can cut it off" kinda thing. Mind telling me what you thought of when you suggested this one?
I'd say everyone starts with 10 bars of health. An attack from a Stalker or Runner will take off half of one bar and with a Clicker (since they're stronger) it takes 1 and a half health bars? I think this could be good.
4. YAY and 5. Glad you like it so far.
6. Thinking about the upgrades I'm thinking about having the same system as the game? Could be given through a quest or the random dice or events... something like that. SO! To start off, there are 2 sets of upgrades: Pills along with Parts & Wrenches. There are different Tiers to upgrades.
A character can only have a max of 20 Health Bars but they start off with 10. There are 2 Tiers of upgrades, the first gives you an extra 5 bars and the 2nd Tier gives you the last 5. Sound good?
Guns and other weapons have different Tiers of upgrades for different areas. The first Tier of upgrade only requires Parts but the second, third, fourth etc.. will require Wrenches as well (which can only be gotten through Quests) - Magazine Capacity: - Special Effects: Stun, poison etc.. - Fire Rate - Damage - etc...
7. For stuff such as Crafting (Medic Kits, Molotovs, Bombs and such) it would require certain items which can be obtained through Quests or Randomly gotten. For example:
- Medic Kit: x1 Rag x1 Alcohol - Molotov: x1 Rag x1 Alcohol - Nail Bomg: x1 Scissor x1 Explosive x1 Sugar - Etc..
The game had very limited amount of these so people could make their own and the resources needed should be reasonable meaning you can't make a dynamite with Scissors and Rags, you'd probably need Explosives and Wires and such. The list of resources available are subject to change (adding or taking away) to accommodate for more items.
Any inputs? Hopefully this wasn't confusing and if it's too complicated then we can just drop it and I'll think of something else.
