Site name and link: Living the Dream
Site genre: Pokemon
Opening date: February 2012, or thereabouts
Site info: A very relaxed, freeform and member driven Pokemon RP. We're statless, and are extremely open with creative options so long as they don't break the pre-established Pokemon universe. We are open to canon characters and members bring in all aspects of canon, from the games to the anime to the trading card game to the manga and so forth. We're also open to crossover characters if they're adapted to the Pokemon series. However, despite our age, we do not have a large community. We're more focused on a friendly, welcoming community and being a relaxing, safe space than constantly churning out posts - those that get impatient waiting a day for replies may not enjoy their time with us, and we're okay with that.
Your name: Rachel
Your primary staff account: Rachel *
Contact info: PM or replying here is the best way to go, though I have a Skype you can ask me for if you'd like. If you also want to contact me on the site, you're free to do that as well. (You can also find me on a number of other resource directories under the username Molione)
Positions hiring for: One or Two Moderators
Information about positions:
Basically, I lost two staff members and the remaining one is busy for perfectly valid reasons, but I still need some extra help and I really think it would be beneficial to bring in some fresh blood/new ideas, so I thought I'd cast my line and see who was interested. C: I'm really really active, constantly lurking on my phone if I'm not at a computer, and I'd appreciate if I could find pretty active/dedicated people who are able to be online frequently. I understand life happens (we're super chill, no worries) and my other staff still help me out (one stays on the sidelines as an 'assistant' of sorts), but I just need the extra help, and we all agreed we could use at least a little.
Taken directly from my staff forums, these are the expectations I have for staff members overall!
[*] Maintain a positive atmosphere. Encourage fun and friendliness to all in the c-box/OOC areas of the site. Diffuse difficult situations in private places, if able. We want to have a good front, and we are a fun place, so that shouldn't be too hard.
[*] Try to play with new members. If you see someone who's looking for a plot or thread, try to help them out! Make them feel welcome (as they are).
[*] Take care of all staff duties. As listed below. If there are duties you cannot do, or would prefer not to do, talk to me, and we can work something out.
[*] Inform the rest of the staff if you cannot complete your duties. If you're going to be gone for any reason, or if there's something you don't really prefer to do, just let us know, and it'll be fine.
[*] Be as active as possible!
[*] Enforce the rules fairly. Yes, the rules need to be followed, but don't be too aggressive about it. If you're feeling angry, try to move the duty to another staff member. If you cannot, just calm, and try to cool down the situation.
[*] Be inclusive! Don't just play with a few people, and don't hog all the spots in events. Be active, but not grabby.
[/ul]
Our general 'to-do' list!
[*] Answer questions - if there are any in the c-box, or in the Help Desk, answer them to the best of your ability.
[*] Check and respond to PMs. (Specifically those from members with questions or concerns, though other PMs are of course important.)
[*] Deal with disputes, if need be. Confer with the rest of the staff, if unsure.
[*] Check status of applications - are there any that need to be accepted? Any questions over apps that people have? Corrections that need to be made? Address these.
[*] Accept applications and new members, if necessary.
[*] Update all lists - basically keep things tidy, and update the canon list, if need be.
[*] Post! We need to do our best to encourage activity. Members will look to us as an example, whether they admit/know it or not. Even if you don't have muse, start a conversation, play some games! Have some fun!
[*] Keep an eye out for spam/rule-breaking. Deal with according to our three strike policy. Confer with other staff if unsure.
[*] Advertise! Help spread the word! Don't forget to do Link Backs, as well.
[/ul]
This is from the to-do list for each staff member (one of my mods):
- Post!
- accept new applications
- converse with guests/members
- answer questions
- advertise
- moderate threads using Poke-Mod
- answer questions where able/applicable
- keep an eye on the forums for issues (technical and member-related)
While these expectations do apply for any applicants, I am willing to waive a requirement to have a character/be an active poster. I am more interested in having someone who can help with staff/maintenance duties, so if you feel you could be actively around to help but not post, I am willing to talk about that.
Pokemon knowledge would be ideal. It doesn't need to be totally comprehensive (hell, I don't know everything about Pokemon, though I know a heck of a lot), but at least some knowledge would be enormously helpful.
Our general memberbase ranges from 16 to 35. Mostly college-age peoples in their twenties. We would like someone within that age range, and mature and respectful. These may be givens, but they are still important to list. A good sense of humor and a positive attitude are also encouraged!
Other notes: Ideally, my staff and I would like a new staffer to join and hang out for awhile on a trial basis to see how our normal community works. We're fairly open and relaxed, and different from other Pokemon RPs in ways outside of the statless nature of our site. It wouldn't hurt if you were also interested in being friendly with us, as we're a friendly team that likes to bond.
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact me, I'm more than happy to help. <3
