Ok so i've retired from rp to soak up rl again and have new experiences so that i can come back to the writing world with more inspiration one day. I'm a twenty-something, the age of the characters like to play the most, and i like noticing stuff that happens irl that would make a hella good rp thread that i never see made into one
>that moment when someone you are infatuated with and dating says/does something that KILLS YOUR DREAMS ie throws a surprise dealbreaker. One moment your fantasizing about what kind of dad he will be, the next, you pity his sorry asS. This guy I was talking to that I was fantasizing about a future with dropped in a casual text convo that he had he older brother take a technical exam for him for a job interview. MY EMOTIONAL BONER FOR HIM WENT SO SOFT. Is he stupid? Or he can't handle the pressure? It was so fucking weak. It felt so crzy how fast my opinion changed of him, but i've never seen that reality of dating in rp. Usually characters stick to an opinion from the start.

Aha! Yes, i feel you entirely. RP is always too clean, you know? It's always too neat and tied up, because we orchestrate the whooooole affair and make what we wanna happen go ahead.
I think we should make people do it more ICly. it would be fun.

LOL I did this in an AU GoT site, and a lot of people were calling my character "blunt" and saying that she needed to go face her emotions.

CriterionThe original plot meant for that thread was that it was "the one that got away" scenario. They couldn't be together because a) my character got a proposal from someone, and b) the guy can't get married at all. To make things less messy, my character said to the guy she can't be with him ever because it wasn't practical, and she ran away. She never told him she got a proposal, lessen the pain. The guy ended up being salty af after the ordeal ICly. That got people p riled up. v It's ironic really, because I ran the plot through with the player OOCly through pm. Kinda annoying sometimes, though. The girl is pretty blunt, so yeah, some people thought she was harsh when she was being honest.

CRITERIONLOL Depends on your interpretation. The girl chose the guy who proposed to her because of tactical reasons. She didn't want to hurt the guy who proposed and the other dude but yeah, the dude who got rejected suffered ICly. He was a maester so he left the castle where he was staying. P tragic but things for the girl, plotwise, got pretty dark.

This is yummy food for thought. We really do change our opinions of people through certain events, don't we? Something they say or do can totally change our prespective of them. When I look back, I've done the same in many relationships. Even what I thought about my mom has changed drastically because of a single moment. It's not always instant, and some just happen over long periods of time...
...but yes! I agree, these ooc plottings tend to be too clean.
