So someone should make a Harry potter role play with the following ideas:
- actually incorporate the house points into a site system - staff is active in things like quidditch games; they can decide who the winner is by rolling dice and make things interesting by posting mod posts that affect the characters, such as "in this game player A got knocked off his broom; player B scored a large number of points; etc etc" - maybe even entirely AU with custom houses - and a new dark lord that works out differently than voldemort - definitely politics among the purebloods - just lots of cool AU things and mechanics?? - this is kind of just a maybe but also a way to give muggles a larger role - maybe as a separate department in the school, or a role as familiars, or something. Something.
I will skin and code every template and help you come up with cool things if anyone wants to take up this idea and make the site. Someone pls. Plssssss.

I've actually been debating trying to reboot the idea that was thrown around forever ago for an American HP based around four Old Spice scents. I'm pretty sure it's just me playing with the world since I've also been toying with MMO-style Digimon, Super hero/villian academy, and Final Fantasy Revenant Wings for the past while.
It's been a while since I built a site okay and I think some part of me misses it, don't take me seriously.

i i shouldnt you dont know just how much i shouldnt but Kuroya i saw that old spices thing too and it was literally the best thing ever. Just imagine the houses and we could talk about the blend of magical styles (hello, clashing of old world magic and new world magic techniques? You gotta know that the native americans would have some hella magic techniques). And I've always wanted to cook up a quidditch system that uses actual mechanics and numbers rather than complete planning (though that in itself has merit). as for dark lord, maybe like... what if it was like magic failure? y'know like mayan calendar shit and people start throwing around the idea that magic needs to be conserved or maybe magic's going to explode or something? Idk but the term 'magic failure' feels like it has a lot of potential. Basically if anyone else is interested I would be hella interested in getting it started with you.

I haven't done an HP role-play in a long time, so I'll just volunteer my time Nahara. I'm not an avid fan of HP, but I absolutely adored the story line, so yeah. minniewhat's up with you and HP? LOL

I'd be 500% for this, tho most HP sites I see are RL fcs and I shy away from those. orz
If y'all need an advertisement mod/site maid, I'm ur gal. But I'm only free after New Year.

I'm going to be flat out blunt in that if I did the site, it'd be rather straightforward in magic. At least between old and new world since they'd had over six hundred years to solve that "problem", not to mention that I'd imagine the culture would have more or less gotten stamped out. Or completely exterminated by the purebloods. If memory serves, the Unforgivable Curses weren't illegal until the 1800s, so.
The mechanics thing I'd be up for seeing but it's also really not my focus. I work enough with numbers so I'd have really dumped it on someone else and left it alone.
I'm also really really against one Dark Lord unless it's something played by staff as in collectively since I really hate site canons. Though on that note why not Amon and LoK this up and make a Dark Lord that takes away people's magic.
Since I'm talking about it now, I might as well bring up how the rest of the ideas minnie brought up would be incorporated if I had my way.
House points would be awarded on archiving based on length and quality. When a particular house reaches a certain goal, that's the "house cup"and that house gets rewarded with extra money.
Houses would be original based on the Old Spice scents, but there'd be a reasonable way to convert from the normal ones so that members can grasp it easier for sorting, which I would give them the option of doing themselves rather than make it a staff job.
Any purebloods would have to have immigrated pre-1850 since that would be the "cut off" for magical immigration according to Magical Congress. The government would be heavily isolationist, to the point where they cut off immigration for the most part simply to avoid getting involved in other nations' problems. They'd also be heavily secretive about their own, to the point where they wouldn't admit to having a Dark Lord figure running around and doing everything they can to hide it from the rest of the world. Basically, there's a lot more diversity for Muggleborns and Half-Bloods and even for Half-Breeds simply because by this point they're more numerous and thus required Congress to get its stuff together and deal.
Since I would want to base it actually in Las Vegas, there'd be the dynamic of having the bad stage magicians actually be real wizards (like what Fred and George used to do), along with a bit of a need for the school to regulate Vegas. I could see Vegas as a bit of a haven for all sorts of strange folk, aka "creatures", and the school takes direct responsibility for them and their upkeep. They probably also run a lot of the casinos directly or indirectly in order to make sure that they have money without "impacting" the Muggle world/economy.
Also they would be a bit better with technology since they tried to incorporate it a little better. Electronics still don't work around then but they found a way to make a couple phone apps that are magic. Mostly for transport purposes, namely to Congress and the school.
Wands would be awarded by staff though, and I actually have a list of all the things that are needed somewhere and some of the reasons they're the way they are (ie length is personality, core is temperament, flexibility is randomized, and wood is birth), so that's a large reason why I'm not as concerned about letting staff sort people, as well as the fact that sorting is something I prefer to be left to members.

Kuroya sounds like you combined the ideas from the other Harry Potter site interest thread into this.-Nvm ignore this tag, totally read your last post first, rather in order. Umm pretend this post was to stalk the thread *shifty eyes*-
