SO
As I sit here obsessing over exactly what things I'm going to buy/make to go in to this cosplay of mine (I am not a good decision-maker), I thought a cosplay discussion might make a fun thread. I figured there might be some folks cosplaying here, lots of fandom folks and all. Stuff you've done, stuff you wanna do, methods, recommended dealers of this and that, do's and don't's, whatever! LET'S CHAT OR SOMETHING
also is anyone else going to youmacon or

I'd absolutely LOVE to cosplay, but I don't have neither money nor a nearby con - I know quite a few people who do however, and they do a pretty good Ezio, and his girlfriend has the biggest Beatrice dress I've seen in a while, as well as accompanying him as Rosa or a character from Dragon Age (not sure which). My sister's boyfriend also cosplays as Lelouche from Code Geass every now and again, and he brought his cape over to England a few weeks ago, t'was fun. Unfortunately he didn't bring his helmet.
My sister wants to cosplay as Xellos from Slayers - actually both her and her boyfriend are going to do that simultaneously, which should be fun - and I don't actually have any ideas! I need to watch a few more animes before I make a decision, I think!

Ugh, I have so many plans to cosplay but I haven't actually done anything yet ;A; Yeah, lack of funds is the main reason, but other than that I am a very bad perfectionist so I'd be incredibly picky with cosplay. I have a huge list of people I want to cosplay so I guess it's just a matter of putting it into action really... I have to wait until next summer for the next convention because there's not as many people who like animu stuff over here but hopefully I'll get there, I guess.
I JUST WANT TO BE KAWAII DESU. IS THAT SO BAD?

OMG COSPLAY asd;lfha;sdf I love cosplaying and going to cons. It's so much fun. I love it so much and I love the other people that cosplay because not once in my experience have I met a mean or rude cosplayer. I go to cons with my best friend and even though we havent done a collab cosplay yet we plan to. She says she'll be Miku if I be her Luka so I guess I have that to look forward to ^^'
Anyway, I have a few cosplays myself that I absolutely love asd;flkh. My first was Edward Elric from FMA and Ive made my own modifications to it, for instance I made a better belt, and got better gloves than what came with it. I'm also planning on making a 'Gate Eye' and arms to wear on my stomach to look like Ed did on that one cover of the FMA Manga (where he looked evil and amazing at the same time). I'm also working on my automail arm, and I have his outfit that he wore in Conqueror of Shamballa. I think I like that one more than the normal. (I'll also find some way to get an Amestris Military Uniform to cosplay military!Ed)
Beyond those, though, I think my favorite cosplay to dress (and act) as is Death the Kid from Soul Eater. I made my guns and everything C: I'm currently working on his Death Canons and arm spikes for his Soul Resonance form, and the outfit he wore when he succumbed to madness from the Kishin's essence in the Book of Eibon. Lastly a friend is being asd;lfkh amazing and making a Steven Stone (from Pokemon) cosplay for me as a gift.
...don't even get me started on things I hve planned, I have no idea how I'll even be able to accomplish it all XD

dang jarhead those cosplays all sound pretty legit. i don't personally have any real sewing skills (or supplies teehee), so i always try and look for cosplays with which i can be creative without actually having to haaaaave talent???
i've cosplayed once before this, sort of, but it wasn't really much of a cosplay. it was basically just a handmade umbreon hoodie, which my friend...mostly...did. like, i helped come up with the plans, but she's the one with the sewing machine/ability, so she pretty much took care of most of it. i'm really excited about having money this year, too. i just finished a stint as a tutor which got me a pretty snazzy check (nothing amazing, but more than my usual nothing). so this year i'm letting myself indulge.
god kane you are like really good at this. 8') i'm looking forward to expanding my repertoire, but for now, like i said, i chose something pretty easy. i'm going as an anthropomorphic lumpy space prince from adventure time, which is a little unprecedented (it's been done, but not often and not too consistently), which means i can pretty much take my own spin on it. i've already ordered my purple zentai bodysuit (for the skin) and matching face make-up! also, the shoes, but that's no big deal. 8'D
