He died of a heart attack.
There were no screams, there was no clutching of the chest, there was no one to help, no one to bear witness to progression, to evolution.
He simply died.
Of a heart attack.
To the brain.
His mind collapsed. Then it exploded in a ball of brilliant... silent... fury. Like a star. Expanding and contracting, heaving like paper bag lungs, suffocating, asphyxiating like a body trapped in such an infernal plastic... noose.
His body was withered.
He had died of a heart attack.
How long had he been there, on that throne, under that crown, in that sun?
How long had the incandesence been shrivelling him up like skin in salt water, splitting him and bursting him like a pod?
The sunlight did terrible things to humanity.
Senility erased it altogether.
But he had been an iron man with an iron fist and an iron will! - Death was not something a being like him contemplated! - but he was... but he was sitting there, skin sealed to the gold, bound to the throne, like rumours... He was sitting there, thinking, ruminating, decaying.
His flesh was soft now.
