So, hi all.
As some of you know I made an attempt at a Pokemon site last year based on the adventures/special manga of Pokemon. it was really great, and.. there are still some faithful members, but in large part, over January and through the past few months, it has died off to the point where it has become pretty dead.
This has lead me to the conclusion that some people just might not be in the place to want the manga version of Pokemon. I have reserved a rather sought-after URL for this site, and I've done a large part of the content so far, but I'm looking for two other staffers who will be admins, not co-admins or moderators, who can help me to run it, to share my load and help me make any decisions that need to be made.
I believe this was another of my shortcomings on my previous site. I wasn't gifted with staffers who had the same passion as I did.
What I need is two people who are focused on grammar and spelling (and don't mind that I speak in UK English, as I'm Australian) to help me mod applications and to help me run this site that I'm planning. I want it to work, and I want it to run for a long while.
Basic overview is that it is a freeform Pokemon site based on the games. People can choose their characters' professions. I have yet to decide officially if I want to involve the canon characters (though I myself have a love for Mei and might use her regardless. xD) from the games, or whether or not we just base it the same way. If you're interested, send me a PM or post here.
Sleeping on it, I almost think it'd be nice to just remove canons all together and let people create their own characters for the gym leader/elite spots. Maybe?

Anyone? I'd really like even one person to help me make some final decisions?

I'll admit, I checked out your site for a while- but I've never really gotten into the Pokemon manga, even though I adore the fandom in general. A game-based site would be much, much more my style, and I'm pretty sure there are others out there like that.
That said, I'd like to help out, if you'd have me. I don't really have that much admin-ing experience, and I know that's what you were originally looking for, but... I'd adore a site like this and it breaks my heart that no one's stepping up. I can be a grammar nazi and help out, and... um. If you want to bounce ideas off of me I'm here?
I've got the "like-minded Pokemon fan" bit down in any case. Just figured I'd drop you a note. idk i'm too shy for this sorry DX

I don't like having to start from route 0, so if it's freeform in the sense that I can be an established trainer then I would maybe very much be tempted to sign up.
Experience: I ran Torrenta when it was awesome and I have a little sister who knows everything there is to know about pokemon. I am also Australian!

Oh my gosh both of you are very loved for replying.
I understand not wanting to hop into a site that's largely canon-based like AT is, which is part of the reason I want to have a game-based site elsewhere so we don't have to worry so much about that aspect. It gives people a lot more freedom, which means people might feel the urge to do other things they can't do on some of the other sites there. x3
Freeform as in you can be a trainer, you can be a gym leader if you want (without having to play a canon!) etc etc, I don't like having to start from route 0 either. xD It like, drives me to the craziness.
Woo, another Aussie means I don't have to fight my urges to type u in words like colour and s in organise. xD I WILL FURTHER THIS POST AFTER I HAVE PICKED UP MY HUBBY FROM THE AIRPORT.
GUH I LOVE YOU GUYS RIGHT NOW. <3

I saw your site when it first came out- and the manga-base kinda threw me off- but lately I've been looking at pokemon. However I rather have it on V5 than anything else. V5 I love - despite it sometimes being buggy- and I've learned to code it mildly well. I don't know if I could help, but throwing a support in even if I can't join. Game-based rp's are pretty awesome, freeform even better. Not sure I would throw canon's in, because people just have so many different opinions on how canons should be played. You can always just use same FC's and go from there, which would solve most of the issues. I would like to see a bit of a unique plot though, or something that definitely gives it a edge. I'm not sure I can help you, I'm much too shy for this type of thing, but I can at least throw my thoughts in.

I was actually jumping back - my internet died when I was typing a reply yesterday and then I went to see star trek, lol - to say the forum has already been converted to v5. I know the manga-based site turned a lot of people off, which is why I've been considering this other option. I think I'm of the same opinion as you, starry, in that I'd like to see people use the FCs if they want, but not necessarily have them as the same character. I dunno. x3 You sound like you could definitely help, more than you know. I'd love for your assistance.

That would be pretty cool- to have a canon FC with a similar personality, but not necessarily the exact same backstory. (I've always adored N, though, so perhaps I'm biased.) Everything seems a lot more laid back, and it would like a nice chance to really explore the Pokemon world. I always did love designing teams.
I do agree with starry in that a big plot would be cool, but it doesn't have to be anything fancy or even necessarily based around the evil teams. idk, just a thought. Something freeform like this does sound really refreshing, though. <3

Excellent - yeah, I really love Mei and Elesa, so I would probably base characters around them. xD I'm such a nerd for my BW/BW2 babies. But yeah, I agree with it too, I just also want to stand out from the crowd in a way, does that make sense? x3

I played Red and Silver on a few sites- and I like having a bit of a different character that is formed by mostly the site itself, as if they were to fit there. It's just a thing. XD It's super common to base sites around the evil teams- but none of them are actually really 'evil' in a sense. Plot wise, I would enjoy helping out I suppose- and I'm alright at skinning on V5. Anything I can do to help I guess. XD

I'm just going to give my opinion really quickly.
The only problem I can see from actually allowing canons is that "love" people have for them. On sites that allow canons and original characters, people will flock to the canon characters and want to plot with them because they love that character. Original characters will often get shafted and receive less attention than the canon characters.
At least, this is what I've seen happen in the past. I'm all for 100% original pkmn sites. I've just never seen canon characters go over well. Depending on how far you base a character on a canon, at what point should you just allow canons and get it over with? If you're going to use the face and the personality, at that point you might as well just go with canons.
I've been hoping for a new pokemon site, and I can't wait to see how this turns out regardless. That's just my two cents on the matter.

I hope you guys don't mind me jumping in here, but canon-loving isn't necessarily the case. I've been on two sites that have had both canon and non-canon characters available to play, and neither of them had that problem?
But I'd actually say avoid using Pokemon face claims; as Cadance said, there's a thin line between canon and non-canon, so if it's a 100% non-canon site ... yeah. That might be a bit of a problem. Or, if manga-verse throws people off, it could always be game-verse? Protags and leaders and whatnot have less of a personality, and there's more creative license with them.
Just my opinion; good work on fleshing all of these things out, though.

I'm the same when it comes to canon, Wrath. I've seen the instances where canons and OCs fit together okay, as long as the roleplayer is inviting and willing to plot. Sometimes they even make really good rivals for certain events.
I never ever mind a bit of input, I'm trying to make a site that is pretty inviting to most and finding out what people want when they look at a site is kind of important for that. I guess I just feel like I want to please as many people as possible. I don't know in the way of canons, I'm still trying to make a decision. Like you said, when it comes to protags and gym leaders they have less of a personality so you can flesh things out on your own.
I do, on the other hand, really like the idea of allowing OCs as characters like Gym Leaders and Elite Four members simply because sometimes people come up with really original ideas for them that make me go "wow".
xD This is why I need help, so that these decisions don't bounce around in my head for six months with no outcome while I battle myself.
