No one saw the wrong thread.
I've done a character like this before, but I've only seen it once or twice since then. It's a character who has great internet fame from playing video games. Whether this is from Call of Duty or something like Minecraft- would you find playing this character interesting? Why or why not?
Also for those who haven't or don't want to- do your characters have an affinity playing video games or enjoy some other thing of the sort? Like card games involving god powers handed to the hoard of happy go lucky dimwits who just happen to be our only hope?
I don't even know if this is a thing, I'm just curious to see if people really emulate the fact that some of us are large video game nerds onto our characters. Like I see a lot of posts about league. Come on guys, join me in Smite.

I've put my love for building computers into my character, but I never really thought to put video game fame or infamy into them. Mostly because I feel like unless a set amount of people agree "yeah your character was super/great/awesome/dbag/etc" then who is gonna go along with it? I guess just based off past experience in trying to have my character be "better" at something or "famous" by default always ended up ignored.

There's a series on Netflix/Youtube called Video Game High School (VGHS) where it's about pretty much exactly that. I personally don't really like the show, but I think the concept is really cool.

My homestuck kid (I've never made a fantroll, but I have a fankid) is a gamer, by which I mean she is that horrible, foul, absolutely despicable rager that you meet that just takes a shit on everyone for no explicable reason. Her choice of videogame shifts around depending on what other fankids I'm playing with in sburb RPs, but by default, it's SC2. She's usually either super hardcore or actually a pro, and either way she's pretending to be a boy online. Initially, I like to deal with internet anonymity and emotional hang ups in early arcs. Later on, I move onto gender identity and internalized misogyny. There's a lot of ugly internet culture in her, and the gaming aspect is pretty vital to her character imo. I've played characters that enjoy videogames, but she's the only one that's a gamer first and everything else second.
Back when I did Hogwarts sites a lot, I loved to play muggle kids that love videogames and spend all their time trying to create epic wizarding video games. They're really fun.
Otherwise, I don't think I've really brought up videogames much besides as a hobby for my geekier characters. Typically, playing videogames isn't a natural catalyst to carry out plots or themes I want to explore. It's pretty integral to Homestuck, and for Hogwarts, it served to make the muggleborn kid extremely muggle-ish in a way that I really liked.
I haven't ever played a card game sort of character, but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a Hearthstone site that ran like Yugioh. That's not quite the same thing though.

I actually have a couple. But one of my favorites is a dude named Lenny whose persona in video games is more famous than he is. He holds the high score in most of the games at the local arcade. In real life, he's a skinny guy with hair in his eyes (but he's not shy) and a penchant for telling everybody who will listen that he's the best hacker in all of the city. Thing is, he's not the best hacker, his mother just happens to work on the biggest database in the city and he has all her passcodes to bypass security.

I have a character named Deirdre Quinn who was born into a family of thieves but instead of being a thief she was more interested in the gadgets and tech they used. She ended up her family's gadget girl and the girl's pretty much forehead deep in gaming. She's also pretty anti-social because her family taught her never to trust anyone but them so she's definitely got more of a net/gaming social life than an actual social life. She's not really net famous though and uses a ton of different usernames to keep people from tracking her from game to game.
