i had the idea of the forum centering around an island out in the ocean somewhere, set during like the 1920's or somethin'. the east side of the island is inhabited by the village that is situated on the island and the west side is inhabited by the military base located there by the decree of the nation in affiliation of the island.
17/3/15} there is going to be two nations! chances are for a short period of time there will be opening slots for people from the opposing nation that get washed up on shore on the island to be acquired. so there will be that juiciness to work with.
plot
not only will a lot of the site plot be driven by personal plots with characters, but there will be the goals that each side of the island are striving for. the villagers are working to get the harvest goddess to return to the island once more, and then there is the military base people who are trying to find a connection with the mainland and get support.
resources/building
there's going to be a few of those things. mostly events of getting new stuff. like repairing an old tank that was on the island for a while. building new contraptions from the military side, getting a bar built, and stuff like that. so i'm thinking that when people complete certain events for complete a thread, they get so many resources that will pooled into their resource stash. the villagers and military personal have their own separate resource stash. and they can make votes for what they wish to do with the resources. with a fixed list of things that people can make, or even capable of positing up an idea of what would be good to have at the island.
and then gaining resources from the mine and trees. allowing people to post once a day to gain x amount of resources. but there are x amount of resources available, which means if they over mine or cut trees without planting trees. that there will be no resources for x amount of RL days/weeks. and such like that.

i changed my mind once again on combat. i was almost going to just throw it out, but i think i've come up with a sort of idea. but i won't spoil it!!! i'm trying to make it as simple as possible, but it's completely NOT necessary. only 1/3 events will ever have combat in it and people are allowed to opt out of not fighting. it's just something to have just in case.
events
17/3/15} events! there will be events! not only are they site wide, but i would greatly encourage personal events for those who get certain hearts for your character. it will not be required for players to list off what their character's heart events will be, but likes and dislikes along with requirements for marriage will be necessary.
2/7/15} but anyway, site wise events there will be two types. there will be requirements needed to start certain events on the site, and then there will be normal events that require nothing but are just to keep things going and give people something to enjoy. normal events will last for 1-2 months with a three week-six week break. required events will take certain things. the completion of a building, certain people being introduced found at the island (ei getting a doctor, rancher, ect), and then sometimes random events that may happen in someone's thread (e.i. finding something)

Harvest moon with dating? Yeah, that's a thing. Pretty sure it's well expected with most Harvest Moon sites. Gonna be hearts for people to have, then there's gonna be heart events. marriage
22/3/15} laughs, i had a thought, and i was typing this out. but i stopped. for some odd reason, but anyway. marriage requirements were going to be my next thing. gotta get a blue feather to marry the love of your life. it'll be random who gets to find a blue feather. which people are allowed to trade around if certain characters want it, but it has to be ic trading.
25/3/15} i'm thinking with people having hearts along with their liked items and disliked items, i've seen some harvest moon sites require those things but not really go anywhere with that??? so like, i'm thinking that each character has their own thread in which people are allowed to GIVE items and TALK to their character's romantic interest to get higher heart ratings with them. thus allowing for people to start their heart events with people. which also means that liked/disliked items are going to be from a set list of items that will be available on the site. people will be able to gather/buy the items for their romantic interest.

25/3/15} There's going to be G to collect. To buy and get cool stuff. Animals can be bought, seeds can be bought, and drinks and foods can be bought. Everyone will naturally start with x amount of G, and certain quantities of items/animals to start their occupation. There will be NPC will temporary take care of the shop until the positions are filled. This allows for people to continue on when positions are not filled.
