If you saw my earlier skin request, then you know where this is going.
So I got an idea for an urban fantasy in which the supernatural are forced to be revealed somewhere in 2012 because an outbreak of demons have forced them to rise into the public sphere. Several "human" factions have risen to quell the outbreak and come out on top of the political world because of the services they offer: they can keep the dangerous aspects of the supernatural in check.
Because these factions wish to maintain such power, they keep their findings and methods to themselves. This is what gives them their power over First World country governments when it comes to dealing with the supernatural. So many of these factions, I've based them on many anime and manga series.
Planned Factions
IACSB: International Association for the Coexistence of Supernatural Beings. Basically an organization doing their best to help integrate supernatural creatures. I draw their inspirations from Soul Eater DWMA, Owari no Seraph (The End of Seraph), and Tokyo Ghoul's CCG. They'll have special weaponry that you kinda see from these series I listed as well as other gadgets. But their goals are more leaning towards Soul Eater. I plan to have this organization to be the most open in a way that they accept other supernatural creatures outside of humans. Like how the DWMA was supposed to be a haven for Demon Weapons, I plan on the IACSB being a haven for supernatural creatures who find it hard to integrate themselves into society. Especially human psychics and hybrids (humans born with monstrous blood).
Martial Forest Coalition: If you like the Korean manwha series The Breaker, this is it. I'm drawing most of the inspirations from there, but set it up in a way that they're also a faction that is made to fight the supernatural because of their use of Ki martial arts. They also work together with native magic users in their homelands. I also expanded it to mostly involve Asia. Though there would be some in the West, but they're lesser known groups. The major powers would be located in China, Korea, and Japan.
The Church: The Nasuverse's (Type Moon's) Holy Church, Ao No Exorcist (The Blue Exorcist), and D. Gray Man are what inspires this faction the most. I have it divided between members who have to rely on Sacraments and Rites and their own martial skills with firearms or anachronistic weaponry that have been blessed. And then I have what I call are the Apostles which are basically the Innocence-Holders in a way that they have a "Stigmata" on their hand and must focus on improving their mastery in using a Holy Relics that can only be used by them.
The Guild: Basically the Nasuverse Mage's Association. Divided between those who actually fight like the Enforcers and those who are just nerds and go on to be just professors. I set their headquarters in the Netherlands because of historical purposes. Pretty much an organization of magicians and all who use magic. Types of magic divides between Onmyoudo, Alchemy, Runecraft, Kabbalah, and so on.
I got other factions like the Vampire Aristocracy and the Unseelie and Seelie fairy courts which I still need to work on.
I have written up Faction Histories for the three. I can PM to some of you if you are interested. Just give me a holler.
Races: Normal humans, Magicians, and Ki Users would be the races that I'd release. But I'm also allowing Psychics and also Hybrids (humans with monstrous heritage). Vampires, demons, fairies, spirits, and all that stuff I'll release later once I get more than enough members to justify their release. For now, the IACSB would be the only thing open for the same reasons as the those other character races that I'm not releasing yet. Though you can still make the first five races that I introduced in this section.
Mundane (Muggle) Politics: It'll juggle between those who hate the supernatural, some who don't mind it, and few who like them. Of course, there will be corporations who really want to get into to the supernatural and reap in the profits at the poor creatures' expense. Which is the reason why groups like the IACSB exists. Then there are extremist groups that believe that these creatures really need to go and begone. And lastly there are people who wish to help lobby for the rights of supernatural entities. Stuff like that. It'll all vary from region to region, state to state, and country to country.
I'm hoping I can get this up by the summer of 2015 if all goes well. Thoughts?
